4 the Win!

The person in () picked that task and can't complete it.
Task/Space
1 (jaxnsmom) - Nat'l Park or monument
24 (Connie) - embarrassing cover
26 (Liz) - Romance
28 (Peggy) - shortage of water
29 (Lisa) - YA
30 (Jannene) - Jail, another team chooses the space
37 (Casceil) - snowy setting
38 (Jannene) - unread/rarely read genre
What should we call ourselves? Anyone want to volunteer for tracking, reporting, morale, bribes, spying, and anything else we might need?

I am happy to volunteer to be our cheerleader. I enjoyed doing that during the last team toppler.

I love the emoticon!

I did my number and got 10. - Try again. Does that mean spin again?

Back to the name problem. Team 4tune?

Or "Team 4 Owns the Store" I had to rhyme.

Yes, generate another number.

"
Lol Lisa, that is a sad looking bird. Maybe I like the solitude you know they let you read books! How many can I read in jail?

LOL! You got the task I forgot to finish writing. It's a book set in a snowy area.

Name... how 'bout "4 the win" ?
I rolled a 26: read a romance"
I like 4 the win

38 = Luxury Tax – Read a book in a genre you haven’t read before, or one that you rarely read.

Since Lisa also had this number, does that mean neither of us can read YA for the challenge? Or can one read that genre for another?

You'll need to generate another number. No duplicates on the first roll.

I've set up post 2 to show the tasks. I thought it would be easier to remember it's at the beginning of the thread.
With your tracking spreadsheet - will you be able to link it so we can access it? The last team Toppler, several teams used a Google spreadsheet with colors to categorize. You'll find that we like to look at them and we get a bit silly :)

All tasks will be worth 10 points, so don't worry about strategizing for points. This is complicated enough as it is.

Yes, you've got it. If your second number landed you on 34 and you offer it up to the team pool, then you would choose another task from that pool.

Unlucky for some - I got 13 - Man Brooker Prize winner. Boy am I glad I don't have to read that one! ;-)
I too am happy to keep track of things or to report - If Janenne what's to get excel-happy and post them on here I'd be happy to report things as we have read - I'm only working 2 days that week.
Loving the name!
The good thing is, it's looking like we don't have to assign all the tasks from the get go, just the first roll, then go from there once we've read that book. So we don't need to say how many books exactly we will be attempting. Am I right?
I think some serious gophering is going to be required by me to fill some of the requirements! Out of the numbers already rolled, I could fit the YA, Romance (if I can use an Urban Fantasy book for this), and rarely read genre (I could go for a short classic), and snowy setting.

I am going to have to do a lot of gophering for this toppler too! I think there are several tasks that I don't have books for.
Out of the tasks already picked, I could read Romance, Snowy Setting and Unread/ Rarely Read genre. I also have a book that would fit the Man Booker Prize Winner task.

Yes you are right, but I'm betting teams will want to get a general idea of how many books members intend to read.

Could someone shoot that bird? ☺ He is way too cheerful! I've been up most of the night with only a few naps, and I have to really get up in three hours. I hate not being able to get to sleep on Sunday nights. Hard way to start the week. I've got to go to bed now!

Last night was a bad night sleeping wise for me too. It's a pretty regular occurrence for me due to an ongoing chronic health problem. Really need to catch up with my zzzzzzzz's tonight!

28 = Water Works – read a book set in a place where there is a shortage of water, because of geographical location or drought.
I also made a list this morning of topics I can read, could possibly read, and prefer not to read. It might not be very useful to post them all now (or would it?), but for the ones that have been already picked, I could definitely do 26 - Romance, 29 - YA and 38 - Rarely read genre. I might be able to do 1 - National Park, 24 - Embarassing cover, and 37 - Snowy area, but then I would need to dive into my TBR and see whether I happen to have something that fits.
By the way, if someone hasn't read Burial Rites or The Snow Child yet, they are both awesome books, quick reads, and set in snowy settings!

He looks like he was plotting world domination to me! Hahaha.

I won't be back on here for a good 10 hours....loooong day today. I am good, at the moment for reading any of the books chosen thus far (except Snowy setting, and drought-- but im sure I could find one for these tasks, if needed.)
I have a perfect book, I've been wanting to read, that fits for #1 national park. So I can do that, if no one else has a good one.
perhaps we should just wait until everyone rolls before we divide the tasks? or should we make a list of the "good, bad, the ugly" tasks for each of our preference? am I over thinking...??

I don't think we really need to list the topics that we don't want to read or can't read. After the first roll, we can either read the topic book ourselves or offer it up to someone else in the team so I think we might be able to deal with things as and when they come. What do you all think? Would you prefer to make preference lists before we start or just take things as they come?

Welcome to our team Peggy!
If Liz has a definite for the National parks choice I reckon she should do that one as I think that will be a difficult one to fill.
I don't think I have anything for water shortage/drought.
