Am I wrong, or have the Irish managed to rework a four letter word and make it wholly acceptable - feck is used widely, even in the UK now, and I'd say feckin' is even milder than saying 'bloody'. Only the Irish. :)
Some questions I have:
I'm guessing that Barrytown is a working class part of Dublin. I noticed that Doyle used "yeow", "c*nt" and "f*ck" many times throughout all three novels. I'm not too bothered by the f word but the c word...it makes me wince every time I read it. Do people speak like that in an everyday fashion? Also, in America, you would hear someone say yeow if they hurt themselves more than being excited about something.
And could someone tell me what Bundies and butter vouchers are?
