PattyMacDotComma | 621 comments Art Garfunkel is the best friend who helped his college roommate, Sanford D. Greenberg deal with his sudden blindness. Greenberg's memoir, Hello Darkness, My Old Friend: How Daring Dreams and Unyielding Friendship Turned One Man's Blindness Into an Extraordinary Vision for Life.

It is fabulous! Greenberg knows everybody who's anybody, worked in the Johnson White House, and tells great stories!

Amy | 145 comments Life swings on a pendulum marking time but suspending us in motion. Swinging to side to side, we're stuck, angry, scared and afraid to venture out to rejoin the world. 'Wish You Were Here' hit home as the pandemic touched everyone's lives. It separated us from loved ones, furloughed jobs, created fear and above all, we lost people we cared about due to Covid-19.

Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult

Amy | 145 comments Flying Angels by Danielle Steel

Blending historical with woman's fiction, Steel pens stories of brave women adhering to their internal call of duty instead of society's expectations. These 'Flying Angels' risked their lives to protect the United States during WWII."

The author is renowned for romances but she shines at historical fiction. Overcoming obstacles and overthrowing society's rules to make a difference, her spirited characters connect readers with past so they can embrace the future.

PattyMacDotComma | 621 comments BOX 88 by Charles Cumming, a former secret service recruit himself, describes the mixed-up world of international intrigue.

We may know who the enemy is, but with so many 'agencies' of spies today, nobody is quite sure who the bad guys are. Great read!

Author Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara has produced an amazing library of these.

Darya Silman (geothepoet) 'The Wuhan Lockdown' by Guobin Yang. It accurately depicts the events, using social media and mass media of the time... but the style is killing me. Like it was written by a student, not a professor

Ray Moon | 9 comments A Dreadful Destiny by Rosemary Rowe I'm 25% into this third century Roman Britain novel. While the 19th in the series, as yet there is not a murder but a political and social conundrum for the patron of Libertus, the central character of the series. Libertus is being sucked into that appears to be an impending maelstrom. As with the previous 18, I'm hooked!

Ray Moon | 9 comments The Hydrogen Revolution. I decided to try another non-fiction. This book interested me because when I taught plebe (freshman) chemistry at the United States Naval Academy in the mid '70s and mid '80s, I pointed out the possible future of hydrogen to replace natural gas and other energy needs. Much has changed in the past 35 and 45 years, so I wanted to see how accurate my ideas back compare to now. I'm 17% into the book so it is still primarily focused on climate change, but I saw many of my ideas in an introductory chapter. The author uses much references to back up his facts that in this day and age I find quite refreshing.

message 2587: by Sandra "Jeanz" (new)

Sandra "Jeanz" | 20 comments My Monticello by Jocelyn Nicole Johnson which I am 86% through and quite enjoying reading. I have had to have a little break from The Movement by Petra Hulova which I am 32% into it but struggling somewhat.

Amy | 145 comments Forgiving Paris by Karen Kingsbury.

Karen Kingsbury's life-changing fiction affords readers to reexamine their lives. Looking back, we're quick to judge our decisions. We don't realize that experience affords that reflection. While coming to terms with the past, we need to forgive ourselves to move forward.
