PattyMacDotComma | 621 comments Her Second Death (Bree Taggert #0.5) is a prequel to Melinda Leigh's homicide detective Bree Taggert crime series. I had never read any of this author's work before, but I enjoyed this introduction enough to consider reading the series.

While not as funny as the series' debut, it was good to catch up with Finlay and her antics.

PattyMacDotComma | 621 comments There should be lots of books like this for kids (and their grown-ups). It's beautiful, it's informative, it's scary, and it's funny! What's not to like about Nenek Tata and the Mangrove Menace (set in Sabah, Malaysia) by Judith Vun Price

PattyMacDotComma | 621 comments I just read the graphic publication The Pronoun Book, by Cassandra Jules Corrigan. It tries to explain how people choose to identify themselves and how we should refer to them and each other.

Bi, non-binary, trans, other gender issues are here. It's certainly a tricky business, and this is one place to start to understand it.

Amy | 145 comments What Happened to the Bennetts by Lisa Scottoline.

To say that I loved the book is putting it mildly. Ever since the car chase, Scottoline, never let her foot off the gas and left me eagerly paging through the novel to reach the finish line.

Bookish Veenita (bookishveenita) | 18 comments Currently planning to clear my shelf on Netgalley lol. I have some books I want to read ASAP.

Btw awesome readers, I have a question for you all. To organise my books I have made a book tracker (which I use for myself as well). Will anybody be interested? Don't worry it's free. I just thought to share with others who keep piling their TBRs and forget (like me...)

The raw richness of emotions to the characters risking everything in pursuit of happiness, Silver pens protagonists that are filled with heart, humor and humanity. Closing the final chapter, I could pick Cleo and Mack out of a line up and rooted for their happiness.

Carolyn | 92 comments Finished my first Netgalley book for 2022 and it was excellent.
Her Hidden Genius by Marie Benedict Her Hidden Genius by Marie Benedict is based on the life of Rosalind Franklin who was instrumental in collecting the data Watson & Crick used without her knowledge to develop their Nobel Prize winning model of the DNA helix. It's well done and a good read if you enjoy historical fiction based on on real people.

Sarah (harasnicole) | 7 comments The Final Heir by Jon Monson

I'm 65% of the way through after struggling through the writing and the dialogue, but the story is interesting at least. I'm just confused about the region (whether fictional or somewhat real) this book is set and the lack of world building. An interesting story can only do so much.
