Great read if you love Scottish Historicals only $2.99 on Amazon over 300 pages. You can read as a stand alone book. It is a 3 book trilogy

Pulitzer winning American author Andrew Sean Greer has written a warm, funny account of his and his mother's road trip, My Mother and Other Wild Animals. They are great friends but mismatched travel companions. It's short and enjoyable.

Who says education can't be fun? The World is Full of Nouns by Elizabeth Lareau will set them straight! Lots of colourful pictures with some nouns identified and where kids can find even more 'things'.

Irish-Aussie author Dervla McTiernan has returned to the US, up in Vermont this time, to ask What Happened to Nina?. I still miss her Dublin mysteries, but I certainly enjoyed this one,

started off really good! But then by the 5th(ish) chapter, it started to ramble and I already had a guess of who/what did it, and I was bored by the end. The who/what/why explanation I thought was a little lame. 3 Stars

The Great Divide by Cristina Henríquez
A novel not about the Panama Canal, but set during the construction of the canal. If you love character-oriented fiction, this is a great option to try.

The Shadow Key by Susan Stokes-Chapman
A mixed bag for me. The atmosphere is great, but the characters and the infodump endings somewhat ruined the overall satisfaction. this book is currently available to request on Netgalley, though I read it from another source.

Kelsey is bubbly when they move into their new (to them) house, but Lauren is freaking out about being watched from The Other Side of the Road. I enjoyed thriller writer Andrea Bartz's suspenseful story and the ending I didn't expect.

Ah - a couple of goodies from the #NeverTell short story collection.Both are about women in the desert in very different, life-threatening circumstances. Deserts lend themselves to mystery, I think. One woman is a crook, while one is a tattooist.

in Did I Kill my Husband? by A.J. Campbell Christina Blake is driving home at night in terrible weather conditions when she hits something - she gets out of her car but can’t see anything so assumes it was a deer and it has run off.
Now her husband is in the hospital - a victim of a hit-and-run.
Hmmm does Christina want to kill her husband?

chose an intriguing title, Life, Loss, and Puffins for her story of two kids, outsiders (one's only 13!), who embark on a quest/road trip, seeking real experiences, away from classrooms and screens. I suspended disbelief and enjoyed the ride.

A middle grade historical fiction based on a memoir. Contains some traumatic incidents that might be too much for sensitive children. A good option, otherwise.
