I'm up to 'The Sweetest Girl in New York' in apart two. With all of the football over the weekend, plus seeing the movie It ch2, not much reading time. I do have a couple of issues with the movie I would complain about, but overall, good horror movie! Definitely worth seeing. Kept me jumping in my seat for sure.

Yay to getting some wins! I do think that the Hawks didn't look as good as they should against Cincy. Cincy looked better then I thought and Andy Dalton did well against the secondary.
Hoping for the best but keeping expectations in check! LMAO!

Have you read Doctor Sleep? It's good and I really liked it! I hope they do a good job with the movie.

I did read it a few years ago and liked it also. I agree on hoping they do good. The preview was promising.

I have no idea where the plot of this is going but I'm loving the vampire dynamics and politics!

I am at Down the Rabbit Hole. I have to say, for not being a typical vampire storyline, I am really enjoying the writing style. Joey is a very entertaining narrator. And oh my gosh, (view spoiler)[ when he was talking about masturbating, I busted out laughing!😂 And yeah, the kids? Didn't see that coming.😕 (hide spoiler)]

I just got to Part 3 - The Devil’s Dice.
I loved the whole Studio 54 chapter! I agree Vickie, I’m really enjoying this told in first person with Joey!

That ending! Wow! (view spoiler)[I loved the surprise of finding out that Cvetko was with the kids the whole entire time.

I hated to see Margaret die. And she died in such an epic way! Her death bothered me more then Joey's for some reason. I think it's because she was such a bad ass and not sure who's going to be able to battle these creepy kids now.

Those kids were just scary as hell and I'm glad to find out the reason for their demanding bloodlust. I loved the reference to the Elizabeth Báthory tale. Showing similarity with the kids in having the same needs (dunking their whole bodies in blood...WTF?!) and going completely crazy since they're so damn old. Their bodies can't hold in the blood like they use too. (hide spoiler)]

What a great new take on vampires. I really loved this one! Terry and Vickie, thanks for doing a BR with me on this!

It struck me as **whole book spoiler ahead** (view spoiler)[that the 'little ones,' simply conduct territory take overs, as their own demands are so high, they need to eliminate other predators to give themselves sole access to the prey. Cvetko is in the role of facilitating 'feeding the crocodile to avoid getting eaten' (killed) the takeovers. (hide spoiler)]

I finished! Quite the little twist in the end. Never read a book where (view spoiler)[ the narrator ended up lying outright to the reader like that. Crazy. Blindly following the narrator seems to be what I normally do, I guess, haha. I’ll admit, I never suspected that Cvetko was a plant! It makes sense why he’s doing it. I don’t remember any evidence that would have given him away, although there may have been something. I was also surprised that ultimately, the kids were so powerful that there was never any hope the others could stop them. They were doomed from the start. (hide spoiler)]

When I first read that ending it (view spoiler)[ annoyed the crap out of me. I thought it was clever but a really terrible thing to do to a reader. But on reflection it has grown on me. not that I would ever do that myself - it's not my style, but hats off to CB for going there and pulling it off. (hide spoiler)]

Foreshadowing? (view spoiler)[I'm pretty sure the 'narrator,' tells us not to trust him, or trust anything, etc.... It's there, but it is so easy to think it doesn't apply to the narrator's voice to the reader themselves.

This is why I begin my review with

You’re definitely right. The warning was there, but my reaction seems to be much the same as your first reaction, in a mild sense I guess.
