Yes, ID is very pretty if you are an outdoorsy type :) I'm kinda a bigcity rat (used to live in Budapest which is a 2-million people metropolis), so it was weird for me first, and I am still missing the city...

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments Oh wow, I had no idea about the name's backstory. This is so interesting! How come you moved to Idaho if you don't mind me asking? :)

message 203: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments So what are y'all currently reading? Anything you need to finish before TT starts? :)

message 204: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments I’m participating in the lava challenge and have 13 more books to read for that before TT starts. Currently I’m reading The Widow it Rose House and LOVING it!!!

message 205: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (itsmedaisy) | 279 comments I'm reading The Mad Ship right now, should be finished with it today. I love these books but they are soooo long so I have to read them in months I am not doing any challenges. I'm going to read Nevernight when I finish this one. I've started it a few times and gave up, but I'm determined to make it through this time

Wow 13!!! I'm looking up The Widow in Rose House now, never heard of that one but the title sounds interesting

message 207: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Lol, realized that my auto correct was in full force. It’s The Widow of Rose House. It comes out on the 8th and is a historical book with romance and a true paranormal/horror element with a villainous character. I am loving it!!! Just about done with it.

I added it to my TBR! I've been trying to read more stuff outside of fantasy but it's hard because I never really know about any of it, this one sounds really good!

hahaha every single thing you mentioned here is what usually puts me off books! it does sound fun though and I'm glad you're loving it :D

I currently have The Danish Girl on the go but I already started it in April or so, so before wheel-o-brown, and I still haven't finished it.... it did need some getting used to I guess, and I'm enjoying it way more now, but I still don't think I'll be able to finish it next week. Guess I'll have to do that after ttvii then x) (need it for popsugar)

oh and I'm listening to the audiobook of Northanger Abbey - also for popsugar - and it left me wrathful almost every time I listened to a couple of chapters... Luckily I should finish it after work tomorrow though!

message 210: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments Okay I'm just about to finish Northanger Abbey already hah!

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 441 comments Minx,
Can you find out if .5 books are counted for the 12+ books in series??

The Duke and I says it has 8 books in series but there are novellas in between that if counted would make the series qualify.

message 212: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments I will check on that novella question right now mama 😀

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 441 comments Minx wrote: "I will check on that novella question right now mama 😀"

Thx

message 214: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Ok Mama. Yes .5 books would count IF they were over 100 pages in length

I don’t think the ones in your particular case are (I was told) which in that case I’d double check the page counts on Amazon and if they show over 100 on there and if they indeed are actually over 100 pages I would ask a Goodreads Librarian to update the page count.

I’m not at my computer and using the app which sucks and that’s why I’m not able to confirm the page counts etc for myself.

I hope this helps 😀

Sounds good. I will ck that out.

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 441 comments You are correct in fact you cannot get the original nor the epilogue books. They are only the new books with the .5 books incl

Kinga Christina wrote: "Oh wow, I had no idea about the name's backstory. This is so interesting! How come you moved to Idaho if you don't mind me asking? :)"
I don't mind at all :) My husband is from ID and when we moved back to the US he wanted to be around his family.

well, at least we know what the rule of thumb will be for 12 in a series :D

message 219: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 182 comments I'm not really reading anything right now (finished up the books I was currently reading) because I feel like anything I start now I'd want it to count!

A friend wants to start The Enchanted tomorrow but we'll see! it looks short. But I have a busy few days.

message 220: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1978 comments I've still got 4 or 5 books left to read for Lava, but thankfully I have one more double shift to get through today (ok in like 6hrs so I really should try and sleep) but once that's over and done with I should hopefully get back to a more normal schedule. 4th double in a week. I think I might do something drastic if they pushed me to pull off one more.

But somehow I will still manage to finish The Heart of Betrayal and Silver Silence tomorrow. Thank goodness for California mandated breaks. ;)

message 221: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Also on Lava Team but this week is slow. I finished off my A to Z Book Title Challenge. Trying to finish another yearly challenge and clearing some books from kindle.

the challenge starts on Oct 7! I'm sure we'll get a countdown soon so we'll know at what time specifically it begins :)

Hmm, maybe the books you read for TT will work for the fun readathon? You already have a plan for TT so maybe you could use those books and they could serve a double purpose. :D

message 231: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments I'm worried they won't work with our mini challenges though x)

Readathons are always too stressful for me. But I do love the Sims. Ahhh how many husbands have I drowned in the pool so I could get their money... xD

message 234: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments Hahhaha Dragana, classic!
It's a month long readathon though and obviously you don't need to fulfill every single prompt so this is way more chill than week-long ones (which stress me out because I know I can't read 7 books in 7 days lol)

message 235: by Dragana (last edited Oct 01, 2019 03:49AM) (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) So... I got this crazy idea to try and read only books that are Sin Bingos. :) So I need your help regarding colors of some covers:
1. The Harp of Kings (Warrior Bards, #1) by Juliet Marillier green?
2. The Magnolia Sword A Ballad of Mulan by Sherry Thomas pink?
3. Dark Age (Red Rising Saga, #5) by Pierce Brown yellow?
4. Harbinger (Fate's Forsaken, #1) by Shae Ford green?
5. Troubled Waters (Elemental Blessings, #1) by Sharon Shinn green?
6. Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan green?
7. Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton pink?
8. Reticence (Custard Protocol, #4) by Gail Carriger red?
9. Starless by Jacqueline Carey blue?
10. The Night Watch (Watch, #1) by Sergei Lukyanenko blue?
11. We Are Legion (Bobiverse, #1) by Dennis E. Taylor brown?
12. Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch brown?
Honestly, it was easier for me with tineye, whatever he said, that was it. Now I am never sure. :(

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments Apparently there's a thread in the captain's group where possible sin bingo books/ideas have already been collected, hopefully they'll get shared here or in our planning/tracking spreadsheet soon so we'll be able to share our own sin bingos we have found too!

message 237: by Dragana (new)

lol, you want all the ideas shared? I have no idea if they are being tracked. The thing with the books that are being shared is that they are books that each person has that they found a bingo for. For example, I already shared this book:

Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward which meets the color cover, guilty pleasures genre and lusty criteria

here is another book:

Valor's Choice (Confederation, #1) by Tanya Huff Brown cover, space opera, and its up to you to find something enraging about it.

Both of those books are sin bingos. Do you really have any interest in reading them?

Do you see what I mean? I'd just see what sin bingos you already have in books you want to read. Having a few sin bingos mentioned only matter if you already have the book.

I will talk to Shelby about tracking them and see what she thinks. I just didn't want you to think you were missing out on something.

Hey Dragana, great books:

1 - Yes Green
2 - No, it has to be 50% or more and with the character there it isn’t quite 50% (I will double check this one)
3 - Actually HUGE debate on Captains thread and they are calling this book Brown! If it enrages you somehow you can call this book a Sin Bingo for Wrath.
4 - I’d say no on this one BUT if you have the actual book and it looks green to you then I can escalate this one up if you’d like.
5. Yes - Green
6. Yes - Green
7. Yes - Pink
8. I’m going to get a second opinion on this one.
9. No
10. Yes - Blue
11. Yes - Brown
12. This one is Brown and we can use Tineye to back us up on that if you’d like. It’s 83.9% Brown on that.

I will follow up with #2 & #8 right now, let me know about #4.

message 240: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Also, if anyone has a green book cover and can't tell is another team has read it, please let me know and I will see if I can find someone on a team who has.

well, yeah. we could still try to get those books at the library, KU, scribd etc. if we're interested in them. we all read so many different genres so I'm sure we'd all find new books we'd like to read. especially since Dragana only wants to read sin bingos :D

I can add them to our tracking sheet once we get it from other teams' threads though...

Ok, I double checked with other captains and they agreed:

#2 is a no on pink
#8 is an Yes on Red

And you make a fair point. I will be honest not all of the books on the Sin Bingo thread don't actually make bingos. mostly they are book recommendations by cover color etc. Some suggestions for envy have the reader saying they read in 2019 but it was 2018. Things like that.

As I said I will go through thread find true bingos and add them to the spreadsheet Shelby is adding things to.

JanEyre9 I think I found a Sin Bingo. Tell the Wolves I'm Home. Green cover, YA genre, and read by Elena Team Wrath June 16, 2019

Ashley (itsmedaisy) | 279 comments I'll read Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson if its a bingo! I really disliked her first book, I'm pretty sure I DNF'd it, but I'll give this one a chance. Mostly because the cover is awesome

That book is an Envy Sin Bingo. Green cover, YA, and read by Alysa H. Team Ira on September 28, 2019.

But read it if you only want to. I'll add the book to the Bingo list I am putting together :D
