You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 86 from two months ago where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!

Read this back in 2013/2014, it's a pretty thick book and I believe it starts when the protagonist is in high school, though it may have been university. Some key details:
She decides to date this particular boy from her school, and invites him over for some school related thing maybe involving flutes or clarinets. They end up dating.
She has a Japanese friend at one point from school and they end up talking about haikus and get very close (I remember one line about her friend "breathing into her" ???)
The rest below are spoilers.

She and her boyfriend end up living different places (I think he goes away for school), she thought he broke up with her and begins a sexual relationship with an older businessman
She has a fear of heights that she manages to conquer by climbing this particular really tall tree, but this acquaintance of hers that was obsessed with her traps her in the tree (she had been wary/scared of him already), takes her to an abandoned church or farm shed and attempts to rape her before declaring he's going to tie them both together and shoot them both. She manages to escape and runs out to the road where her dad (I think) sees her and takes her home.
While recovering from this trauma, her first boyfriend comes back and they reconnect. The book ends with her talking about her newly born daughter (to whom the book is written), and the book is taken over by the boyfriend (now husband and father) who says that she was killed from a brain aneurysm.

It was written in 'modern times', I read it in Canada, and I believe the cover was red but I can't remember anything more about it. It seemed to be based in North America, possibly the USA specifically.
