Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to jump into this trilogy. This was voted as our October BOTM with the most votes! Are you excited? I can't wait to read your thoughts on this series. And yes we shall be reading the whole trilogy for the month of October!!

This isn't a spoiler free area. So readers can discuss everything and anything about the whole trilogy.

But please do list ***SPOILERS*** above your replies in order to avoid spoiling other members.

Happy Reading!!

Louie My copy of this finally came in from the library yesterday and I got a chance to start reading it. Even from just the first chapter I can already tell that it's going be a compelling story and I am pumped to see the Netflix show based of this series that is coming out.

Louie ***SPOILERS***

I just got to page 54 and WOW! I was not expecting that! This book definitely holds suprises.

Wait.. hold up... there is a Netflix show coming out? When? When is this happening?

Louie So far there's no release date but, they have released the cast list here, https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/tv-n... and that the series will be based off both Shadow and Bone and Six Of Crows.

Oh dang! I am so excited! :)
I really enjoyed both series and I love her writing very much. Recently purchased King of Scars and I am very thrilled to pick that one up. I also want to get Ninth House.

Louie This is only my second Leigh Bardugo book and I already have an appreciation for her writing. The only book of hers that I read before was Wonder Woman: Warbringer and I extremely enjoyed that. As soon as I finish Shadow and Bone I plan to read Siege and Storm.

Louie I finished Shadow and Bone yesterday and I finally got a chance to comment on it today. While I liked Shadow and Bone I didn't actually enjoy it as much as I thought I would, though I still liked it, and how could I not with characters like Alina, Genya, and The Darkling who I thought was really complex and interesting. So I am definitely going to read the sequels as soon as I complete the book that I am currently reading.

Louie ***SPOILERS***

I just started Siege and Storm and I am already enjoying it. Leigh Bardugo does have a way of pulling you into a story, I just hope that the thrill will last and that the explosive beginning of Alina finding The Darkling in her room with new powers that he didn't have before, will be followed by more things just as astonishing and surprising.

Louie ***SPOILERS***

Page 75
OK, I just read the part where they find the Sea Whip and then all heck breaks loose and I did not expect that! I mean it was just so crazy, we find out that the workers on the ship are Grisha, Sturmhond, the ship's captain has been plotting against The Darkling, The Darkling gets shot, Ivan gets killed, and Sturmhond takes Alina and Mal. It was so emotional too when Alina was leaving to go with Sturmhond's crew to the other boat and Alina asked Genya to come with her and she didn't. You could tell that Genya wanted to go, but that she was afraid of what The Darkling would do to her.

Is anyone on the third book yet??

Louie Well, I just finished Siege and Storm last night and I plan to start Ruin and Rising as soon as I finish the book I am currently reading, so probably the day after tomorrow. I can't wait to start it!

That's great to hear Louie! I'm glad you are enjoying the trilogy so far!
I am like super excited about the tv show. Ever since you mentioned it I just can't stop thinking about it haha!
After this trilogy yo should totally pick up Six of Crows!!

Louie I can't wait to watch the show and see the characters translated to the screen, especially the Grisha powers.
I definitely plan to read Six of Crows soon, I have heard that it's really good.

Louie I finally got to start Ruin and Rising yesterday and I am happy to say that this one is quite good so far. Leigh's writing style is really growing on me.

I hope to watch it soon, but I will try to be aware of the issues with it at the same time.

There is some controversy around the depiction of racism in the show towards Alina, since in the show she is half shu, though there was no mention of it in the books. I personally applaud that they hired Asian actress, Jessi Mei Li, to play Alina and I definitely am going to watch the show soon.

Here's some links to a few articles discussing the controversy: https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment...
