Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I had a public holiday today so wanted to some gophering before the work week.

I have these I could use with numbers in the title for bonus points:
Eight Days of Luke
Power of Three I would like to only read one DWJ book, so happy with either, but not both.
The Fourth Bear

And I can pretty much read anything else. I usually get through 2-4 books in the week. I am out Sat 19 evening (Topplers finish at 2am Sunday morning my time) however.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Hi everyone! Sorry I've not checked in sooner, had crappy internet connection all weekend so wasn't able to get on here. We have a great team! Looking forward to reading alongside you all 🙂

I'm off to gopher to see what I have that will work...

message 5: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Not at all, glad to have you check in!

I'm tapping out now, so see you guys after work tomorrow. But ran through my next in series reads, and I am pretty covered on numbers. So happy to plug gaps.

Flexible Rus is me.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Hey, Lisa. We just got started. No worries.

Rus, sweet dreams!

Lynn | 2974 comments Hey everyone, just checking in.

Off to read the rules ......

Anyone got ideas on team names?

So far I've thought of:
Count 4 the Win
Team Four: Counting to Win Forevermore

message 10: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Ok, I've had a quick scan of the rules and the first thing to say is, any books you're planning to read please make sure you report ALL the numbers that your book can fit.
I won't have the time to check everyone's books, but if you all do your own, then I can move things around as needed.

See Debra's example above - gold star to you :)

Right, off to make a spreadsheet ..... I love a good spreadsheet.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Go, Lynn, go! And thanks for the kudos! I needed that!

4ever Winners That Count!

I don't know.... my team-naming juice isn't flowing. I thought of something last night as I was drifting off to sleep, but can't remember. I do know it had "4" instead of "for" for part of the name. Hmmmm.....

Well I'm not planning on reading them all in a week, just listing the options. Will be trying for 5 of them.

message 20: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments So I've put together a preliminary spreadsheet with the all the options we have at the moment. It can be found at https://1drv.ms/x/s!AuLtbSLkK84joznCG...

Rusalka - Can you put the link in the top of the thread please.
Also, I've not added the books you listed yet as I'm waiting for further info from you.

For everyone else that's not checked in yet, the numbers that have the least options so far are 2, 4, 5 and 7.
If you can find any books that fit those numbers, all the better.

message 21: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments Wow this is going to be a fun challenge, and I think we have a great team! So happy to be reading with you guys!

:D Spreadsheet link updated up top.

book: Eight Days of Luke
number of pages: 203
pub date: 2000
first published: 1975
series: N/A
if audio, add length: n/a
fits numbers: 8, 5, 3
Bonus: Number in the title (5 points)

Or

book: Power of Three
number of pages: 299
pub date: 2001
first published: 1976
series: n/a
if audio, add length: n/a
fits numbers: 3, 9, 1, 6
Bonus: Number in the title (5 points)

book: The Fourth Bear
number of pages: 383
pub date: 3 Aug, 2006
first published: 1 Jan, 2006
series: #2
if audio, add length: n/a
fits numbers: 4, 3, 1, 6, 8, 2
Bonus: Number in the title (5 points)

Next book I would read if I can get to number 3:
book: Silence of the Grave
number of pages: 290
pub date: 6 June, 2006
first published: 2001
series: #4
if audio, add length: n/a
fits numbers: 6, 1, 4
Bonus: N/a

I think I should read a DWJ book and the Fourth Bear for the Bonus points, and then I can be flexible on anything else. On the numbers Lynn was mentioning, I have shitloads for 2, a couple of 4s, and a 5, without looking at page numbers which will open things up more hopefully.

Lynn, sorry I wasted your time with all the 7's, I did the same to Debra. I must have deleted the post just after you saw it, when I realised what I wasn't taking into account!

I think I'm good to go now. Here is the list of my first 4 planned books. Everyone, please let me know if you see any mistakes :-)

I have many more options so I'm happy to flexible.

message 37: by Lynn (last edited Oct 08, 2019 12:24PM) (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Margo -

Bonus for individual books are 5 points
10 points are for when the team completes each round

Why does How to Stop Time get bonus points? Not sure it does

Six of Crows fits number 6

Girl Number One fits number 9 (month publication)

message 38: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments Okay, so I started looking at books last not and totally fell asleep at my computer. So, let's try this again.
