Book Synopsis:
Thirteen year old Jessica thinks she just hit the jackpot. The most popular boy in her middle-school, Eric, just became her boyfriend and now she’s finally in the ‘it’ crowd. At first the relationship is like a dream come true but it quickly turns into a nightmare when Eric becomes abusive, controlling and sexually violates Jessica. Unable to understand how someone could say I love you and the next minute treats you like someone they hate, Jessica gets sucked into the abusive behavior and loses herself completely to it.

Yeah, we noticed that, too Eni... but we're still going to read it, right Ducky? We were planning on reading 30% as we are both reading it on kindles.. I will be starting later on tonight and will be reporting back here, hope you decide to read, too, Eni.

I will be reading it because I can still get points for other things but I am upset I don't get points for it for Tower Teams :/

I'm still not really sure what I think about this whole thing yet.

(view spoiler)[ I am a little thrown only because I don't remember kids being like this at 13 years old, I am just a little appalled. Are kids really like this.. sex crazy at that age?! Maybe I wasn't in the 'cool' crowd.. but if this is what it's like then I'm glad I wasn't.

I just feel like maybe this book should've taken place with kids in highschool, maybe... and maybe a little more mature.

Anyways, at this point I am kind of waiting to figure out what exactly happens.. (hide spoiler)]

Sorry, I have been gone most of the day. I'm just now finishing up my 30% and will be letting you know what I think soon! So far (view spoiler)[The grammar errors are making it hard to read at times. Was there an editor involved with this book? Anyway, the story looks like it's going to be pretty heartbreaking to me. I can already tell that Eric is controlling her but she doesn't realize that. I hate how young they are because I feel like they are so much older. At least 16 or so. I just don't know where the story is going and it's upsetting me because I hate Eric so much. (hide spoiler)]

Danielle, how do you feel about Eric? Do you think that she is going to stay with him even though he's treating her so poorly?

I hate him so much, too! I don't understand why he's being such a jerk if he can have so many different girls.. & sorry but if it was me I'd rather have no popularity then be treated like this.. he is totally controlling. I am cringing at how easily Eric is isolating her from her friends and family. Him getting mad about her going to her GRANDMOTHER'S BIRTHDAY PARTY was just ridiculous and scary. Him saying that Heather isn't her best friend and that she needs to be left out of things is so alarming. I just want to grab this girl and tell her that Eric is abusive and bad (hide spoiler)]

She's so young and the more he tells her that he loves her, the more she's going to excuse his behaviour. Like when he pushed her down at McDonald's and physically LAUGHED at her, she still made excuses about it because she doesn't know any differently. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, there are a ton of grammar errors, I read in the reviews that a lot of people were getting pretty mad about that. I hate that, too, but am trying to not let it bother me too much.

It wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't make the book confusing at times.

Alright, so.. I'm not sure Ducky if you're still reading this, or if you finished. I had skipped a few days to read Stolen instead.. and last night ended up finishing both of the books.

I want to write my honest feelings about this one, but I'm not always the best with it.

I feel like this book was written in a rushed sort of way. I feel like the author could've taken a bit more time to actually write the story out, instead of it being so rushed and fast, but at the same time I'm unsure if I wanted it to be ANY longer because... truthfully I wasn't a huge fan. I'm not saying I hated it, it was an okay story line.. (I guess)

(view spoiler)[ I'm kind of like.. WHAT? if it was that easy for her to get rid of Eric, then why didn't she do that to begin with? I understand she cared so so much about being popular and about being friends with everyone in MIDDLE school, but come on. I mean I guess I just don't believe that anyone would want popularity in middle school that badly. I know for a fact I wouldn't have put up with that crap - I am amazed she didn't ever tell Heather what was going on.

Clearly she's in a better position now - good for her, but I do wish she had spoken up about him because now his new girlfriend will probably be going through the same crap, and wouldn't you want an end to that? (hide spoiler)]

I did finish the book so these are my final thoughts

(view spoiler)[I know you're annoyed that she didn't tell anyone but at the beginning, he emotionally abused her to the point where she COULDN'T leave because he was just guilt tripping her. She thought he actually loved her and that's why she stayed. I would never blame her for anything that happened to her.

I think it had a happy ending, but I do wish that he would have gotten in more trouble. But of course, that's how Real Life works. Real Life Eric probably wouldn't get in trouble either.

I was just so heartbroken for her. I am so glad that she's moving on from what happened. I wonder if this happened to the author. It seemed like it. So yeah, I gave it three stars. Could have been better and could have been worse. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I guess I kind of got the feeling that she questioned whether he truly loved her or not. & yes I do think it was a happy ending, for sure.. aside from the fact that he is just going to keep doing it to his girlfriends. I am stuck on the fact that she should get authorities involved, or atleast her family, so that they can do the right thing and put an end to it all for the future girlfriends/wife, etc. I think in real life he'd def. get in trouble... if someone said something. He couldn't get in trouble if no one knows.

(view spoiler)[But there are so many times when a popular guy DOES get the authorities called on him, and it's just swept under the rug. I think her not going to the police was about as realistic as it could possibly be. ESPECIALLY at her age. Real life Eric wouldn't get in trouble I don't think. Especially after that girl said that she WANTED to have sex with him. They'd use that in court so quickly. It sucks that the cops weren't involved, but that's what was so realistic about the book. If she had gone to the cops and Eric got in trouble the very first time and spent year in jail, it just wouldn't be true because that rarely happens in real life. (hide spoiler)]

I mean I know stuff like this happens, (view spoiler)[ but I guess I'm just thinking that if I was that girl I would've said something to at least my parents - there would've been no way, even if I thought he loved me? You know? or at the least my friend would know, just seems so crazy how brainwashed he got her.. hard to really feel that and picture it being that way, but I'm sure it does happen. (hide spoiler)]

Luckily, they got out of the relationship, but I know how hard it is to get out of them and to talk to other people about them. Especially when you are being brainwashed and gas lighted all the time. I'm just happy that she got out of the relationship.

I think when you're in that position, you have to be selfish. You have to think about YOUR healing before you think about other people. She probably just thought that she needed to move on from the relationship instead of dig into it further by bringing the police in. It sucks that by not going to the police, he may be able to do it again, but he's going to do it again no matter what she would have done and it shouldn't be her responsibility to stop him. He is his own person.
