I’ll nominate When Rain Clouds Gather by Bessie Head of Botswana/ S Africa. It’s on the Feminista list of 100 best books by women writers in 20th century.

I nominate (2020 Nov/Dec read) ,"Sundowners" by Lesley Lokko since I have a copy and haven't read it.

I will second Thomas Mofolo's Chaka.

I would like to nominate the short story collection Animalia Paradoxa by South African author Henrietta Rose-Innes. I was really impressed by her three novels Rock Alphabet, Nineveh and Green Lion that I read at the beginning of this year :)
