As 2019 wraps up, one of our esteemed moderators, Jack (aka Bran Jack Morn) will phase out his role. He will still linger in the shadows, as Picts are wont to do.

I really appreciate Jack helping out for the past few years. Even though this group is very, very civil, we've had a few occasions in which we had to rein in an overzealous seller or rogue unprofessional. Anyway, you rock Jack.

Stepping up is one of the top readers & commenters of this Sword & Sorcery group: Joseph. He doesn't have a code name yet (look on the upper right of the group homepage and you'll see the moderators have subtitles).

So to welcome Joseph on board, I suggest folks can chime in here with suggestions. For reference, the group founder Periklis is Fafhred. I am the Gray Mouser.

Ha! No, myself, I was leaning in the direction of something more like Cugel or (deep cut here) Bramt Hex, as they're people who often don't quite realize just how far out of their depth they really are … :)

I like those inspirations Jack Vance's Cugel Saga and Michael Shea's In Yana, the Touch of Undying



Something as hugely consequential as choosing a name may warant a full-scale poll on these options.

Since Joseph is already a GR librarian, why not Master Ultan from The Shadow of the Torturer?

Congratulations, Joseph! I also like Master Ultan as a moniker - Cugel, on the other hand, sounds too much like 'cudgel', which might over-emphasise the policing role of a moderator.... ;)
