I enjoyed the challenge last year and I'm ready to go again! I haven't decided yet if I'll add novellas. I have to see if I like the series. Mary Balogh is on my list again because she remains my favorite HR author (along with Lisa Kleypas). The 2 series I read from her last year (Huxtables & Horseman) were my favorite of the bunch I picked so I consider her a reliable read. I'm excited to try 2 authors that have been on my tbr list for a long time - Caldwell and Hoyt - and I'm hoping to find some new faves.

Kaci, twins! My fav HR authors are Lisa Kleypas and Mary Balogh as well. I like your choices for your challenge.
I haven't read the Christi Caldwells or Ann Gracies, but I love the Ravenels and the More Than A Mistress series.
I have tried some of the Kerrigan Byrnes and struggled with them a bit. They are very dramatic, at times OTT. I might try some more of them though.
I read the whole Maiden Lane series and (as with all series) some were better than others. Overall, I did enjoy the series, but they don't match up to my fav Kleypas or Balogh reads though.

Hi Jan! I'll have to check out your other faves since we share fave authors. No one has come close to Kleypas and Balogh's storytelling for me but I've still had so much fun in the genre.
I'm moving slow to kick off my challenge but I like book 1 in Caldwell's Sinful Brides. I'm enjoying her writing and the characters are good so far. I'll start with the 2 series from Caldwell and see how I feel after that.
I've read mixed reviews about the Byrnes series so I'm nervous. I'm the type that will finish a series even when I don't like it. I have a hard time with DNF. I've only done that with one series, never a book. The series was the Kingmaker series, fantasy genre.
I'm glad you gave thumbs up to the Mistress series! Balogh is so reliable. I had to include something from her I haven't read yet (as well as Kleypas) just in case all these series turn out not so good for me. I hope I like Hoyt's style enough since I have a bunch of books from her in my challenge and I'm looking forward to Vincy's series when the 3rd book is finished later this year - reviews looked good!
As for your challenge, I've seen the name Burrowes frequently so I'll be looking out for your comments on that series. I read Pennyroyal Green for my challenge last year. Most were ok for me but a few were really fun and interesting. I read the entire Bridgerton series but Quinn didn't connect with me as an author. This is one of those "I didn't like the series but had to finish" situations LOL I always enjoy the family as a storytelling device in series so that's why I kept going. I just had to read each siblings story!

Hi Kaci,The Maiden Lane is more saucy/erotic in parts than Balogh, but they are still romance/love stories. Some of them I found pretty lame, but I liked most of them - most were 3 or 3 and a half stars for me and I read the whole lot.
Have you read Balogh's "Slightly' series? A mixed bag, but the final one, Slightly Dangerous, is one of my top fav HRs ever.
I did read Burrowes' entire Windham series, and some of her other books too. She has a different style and it's not to everyone's taste. But I did mostly enjoy the Windham books, even though there were some that weren't as good. Some of her other books are hit-or-miss, I find. But I have enjoyed her books on the whole.
I too didn't really connect wth Julia Quinn. I've read most of the Bridgerton series and kinda like them but for me they have nowhere near the power of a Kleypas or Balogh. I still haven't quite finished Pennyroyal Green and have very similar feelings to you. Will get there.
Spymasters is different and good. I didn't think I liked the spy trope, but found these books sucked me in. I took a break and have one to go, but I recommend the series. They can be read in 'writing order' or chronological order. I did the latter, and found it makes sense that way.
I struggled with the first Vincy book - couldn't get into it. I want to try it again. Haven't read Bk 2 yet. It has very mixed reviews.
Other HRs you may not have read that I liked? Some of the early books by Liz Carlyle were very enjoyable for me e.g. A Woman Scorned and A Woman of Virtue. I don't seem to like her later books as much, although I still have a few to read.
Luck Be a Lady by Meredith Duran was good, as was Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas.

I have just started to read book 3 of The Courtship Wars series.To Seduce a Bride, by Nicole Jorden.
The youngest of the Lorning sisters, goes into hiding in a scandalous boarding house. When the Marquess of Claybourne starts to show an interest in her.
I have just added another series to my challenge so now I'm going for Addictive level rather than Obsessive. It sounds more ambitious than it actually is LOL because I'm mainly aiming to finish a whole lot of series I've started in the last couple of years - quite a few with only one book to go!I'm currently reading Mary Balogh's Simply Magic, then I will have finished that quartet. So far I'm enjoying it.
I have a few series with just one more book to go, but for some reason, I have low motivation to complete that one book. It's like a chore. lol
I've changed my status to "obsessive." I decided to include a series that a friend recommended: "Hell's eight." It's a western, a genre which I have been quite fond of lately. I started listening book 7 in Audible; it's the only one available there. Hope to get the others soon - in any format.

Yay! I finished my first series for 2020. I finished Simply Magic by Mary Balogh and have now read the whole 'Simply' quartet. (Read the others prior to 2020). I gave the book 3.5 stars. A nice read, but not my fav ever Balogh.

I’m reading (actually listening) book 7 in audible. I listen while driving to work. Bad idea, lost concentration more than once and almost took the wrong turn. I’m enjoying it, though.
Yay! I finished a second series: The Ravenels by Lisa Kleypas. I just read the final book, Chasing Cassandra. 4 stars.

Chasing Cassandra will be the last for me too :-)Unraveling new author series and so far they have not been so bad. Decided to do new to me authors for 2020...have had a couple of misses but most have been hits. Wish me luck :-)
Good to see participants finishing their series already. I started my series reading just 2 days ago with And Then He Kissed Her. I am half way through the book and so far it dealt more with publishing, writing and etiquette than love and romance. I hope there is some romance in the second half.

Bold move, Debby. Good luck. It's always great to find a new author you like. I'm kind of doing the opposite of you for this year's challenge - I've got a pile of series with only one or two books left to read, and I'm trying to finish them off. So far I've finished the Ravenels and The Simply Quartet.

That was a really polarizing read for the BOTM — not many were middle of the road.

I only gave. And Then He Kissed Her 3 stars. Which to me means an ok read. First reading of LLG book, not a memorable read.

I liked 2 books from LLG's American Heiress in London series. Perhaps 'And Then He Kissed Her' is one of her first books and she wrote better romance later? Or maybe it is me. I saw a few people gave good ratings.
