Hello :) I am not here to promote my book. I don't have a book. I have a manuscript only. I am Angela B. Chrysler. I am a fantasy writer who is preparing to publish, but I have a slight delay.
If I am to self-publish, I must know my demographic. My work is tight and polished and I have had several renowned agents compliment my work. But they cannot represent me due to my genre not quite fitting their style. I am currently being considered by an agent, but am also interested in self-pub. I can’t decide because I don’t quite know who my demographic is.
Here is where I need your help. I need fantasy readers to read the prologue and first 3 to 5 chapters of my work (about 50 pages) (for free. I'm posting it here on Goodreads). Then, I need to know the age (10-year range), gender (if you wish to disclose it), and reading tastes of those fantasy readers. If you don’t like my work, let me know. If you can’t get through the first few pages because you find it isn’t your style, no hard feelings. Let me know and we respectfully part ways.
Here’s the genre: I have an upmarket/dark upmarket alternate historical fantasy laden with romantic comedy and Norse mythology. Got that? I’ll condense it. *smiles kindly* I have an upmarket fantasy rated 17.
The battles scenes are detailed, the graphics are high, the “adult intimate content” is low. There are two, brief, “non-consensual adult intimate scenes” (Not sure if children are present). The romantic comedy is more like Princess Bride and fills the passing journey.
Imagine a LoTR where Sam-Wise was a girl and Frodo and Sam “liked” each other, but Frodo killed Sam’s father. My story is nothing like LoTR, but you get the idea on the scope and diversity.
Here is the summary:
After her father is murdered, Kallan, an elven witch-queen vows revenge only to learn that, in order to keep her kingdom, she must team up with her father’s killer, Rune. Meanwhile, an ancient race of gods hunts Kallan for the secret she doesn’t know she has.
My writing style is similar to The Black Jewels Trilogy and Patrick Rothfuss’s The Name of the Wind. My webbing is as complex as Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings or Karen Moning's Highlander and Fever series combined.
Now, that being said, I have to put this out there to balance out my request because…well…to make myself feel better about asking this in a forum thread.
C.L.Schneider is an indie author and her series, The Crown of Stones, is beautifully written! Book two is due to release in January, I believe. I’m reading her book 1# now, MAGIC-PRICE, and can not get enough of it. It is epic/dark fantasy and I love it!
If this request was unwelcome in this forum, then I send my sincerest apologies along with it. It was not my intent to disrupt the group. I am sorry.
