What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read a preview of the first few chapters of this sometime around 2013-2015. I was reading a lot of Lori Brighton at the time (not sure if that's relevant, but I think maybe it was in the back of one of her books?) I read it digitally through amazon I think.

In a world where it was bad to have powers (I think), a shy person gives a speech or talk to a group, while standing on a tree stump, and begins to levitate. This is the first time this happened and she/he (not sure) is afraid everyone will found out they have powers.

I feel like the title was one word, but not sure. Sorry this is so vague! It would be a miracle if I found it!

The plot doesn't seem to match but I'll mention this book just in case... It was published in 2014, it has a one-word title and the reviews mention that the main character is shy.

The book is called Qualify by Vera Nazarian.

I don't think she can levitate herself though, I think she can levitate objects.

I don't remember much about the opening pages, but perhaps "Mistborn: The Final Empire" (originally just Mistborn) by Brandon Sanderson.
