Lili's 2020 Reading Challenge
Mount TBR Reading Challenge
The challenge: To read books you have owned prior to January 1, 2020.
Last year my goal was to read 60 books, but I only ended up reading 50, same as in 2018, actually. Lol. So this year I'm gonna try and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro again! Let's see if I can make it to the top this time 😅
Level chosen: Mt. Kilimanjaro — Read 60 books from your TBR pile.
Total books read: 38/60

Finish the Series Reading Challenge
The challenge: To finally finishing those series that you’ve started but not yet completed. Series can be already completed as well as still ongoing. For ongoing series, the goal is to catch up to the most recent book published by the end of 2020.
Last year my goal was to finish 7-10 series, but I ended up finishing 12, which is amazing! I'm hoping to beat that this year. I still have about 80 series I need to finish/catch up on 😅
Level chosen: A-List Series Finisher — Finish 9+ Series (Specifically, I'm gonna go for 15!)
Total series finished: 9/9+

I decided to up my Goodreads challenge to 100 books. Will I be able to do it? Idk, but I'd be great lol

I love your TBR Mountain challenge too! Might have to do that one myself!
Thank you! I reached 91 book in 2019, so we'll see 😅 I love the Mount TBR Challenge because it forces me to read the books I already have lol.

Also, RL Stine!!! I haven't read any of his books since middle school! I used to love him and Christopher Pike! Makes me want to go back and read Fear Street again!
Oh girl, I read a lot of Fear Street. Lol. It's been a lot of fun revisiting them. One of the reasons I like them is because they're so short you can finish them in one sitting. Lol.
The one time I read an RL Stine as an adult it didnt live up to memory so I avoid them now. But I love seeing how much Lili enjoys them :)
Wait a few years and read them with your daughter Sonnie!!

Oh, you guys... them not living up to expectation is something you will experience... I'm putting that out there now. Lol. The R.L. Stine books I have been reading lately have been kinda meh. There are very few that I plainly do not like, but every once in a while I find a real gem! (Silent Night is one of my faves!) But overall, I just really enjoy reading them, even if I'm not a fan of the story/mystery or whatever.
Now I'm wondering what my ratings look like for these books... Oooh, I'm gonna have to put together a graph one of these days! Lol.

Right? Lol. Every time I go to the store I always pass by the book section. It doesn't even matter what store it is, I always check out the books! Lol. I'm pretty good about not impulse buying though, But Book Outlet is a whole other thing. It's hard to resist every time they have a sale 😅
Yay for it being off the mountain!!
And yes I agree, its so hard when there is a book sale of any kind anywhere not to give in!

I have a weakness when it comes to Book Outlet. Lol. And right now they have a $5 off coupon and I am very tempted to visit the site 😅
I wasn't expecting to finish
today, but I did! It was awesome! This was a library book, so it can't count toward my Mount TBR, but it is my 7th book read so I'm happy with that. Lol.

Finished
! I decided to read this book sort of last minute... my goal this year is to finish at least one series per month, and it's the end of the month and I still hadn't finished anything, so I went with this one! It's only a duology so I thought I'd do this one. It was also nice because the book was pretty short. Lol.

Yes! I admit I liked the first book better—it was much creepier—but the sequel was pretty good. It wrapped things up and we found out what happened to Bloody Mary that made her the way she is, so it was interesting.
In January I ended up reading 10 books, with 1 of them being a re-read.
3 were standalone books and the rest were part of a series.
6 books were books I purchased, 2 from the library, 1 was an Amazon freebie, and one was an ARC from Netgalley.
3 books were 5-star reads, 3 were 4-star reads, 3 were 3-star reads, and 1 was a 2-star read.
I read books from 3 new-to-me authors, and the rest I'd previously read.
I read 2 adult books, 6 YA, 1 MG, and 1 nonfiction.

It was good! I really loved that it was tied to the Salem witch trials and I loved the magical aspect to it! My only gripe with it is that it had a love triangle...I hate love triangles! Especially when I really like both of the guys 😩 (As was the case with this one). But I enjoyed the book regardless!

Today I finished
which is another book off the tbr mountain AND since it's a duology, that's another series done! Yay 😊

Triangles aren't my fave either :(
I might avoid it because of the triangle alone. When they are done well they can be enjoyable but usually they are just thrown in to add some fake angst or something.
Yay for finishing another series!

They're just the worst! I don't think I've ever liked a love triangle ever. Well, I remember not minding the one in the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent, but it's been years since I read that.
You read a standalone?? How strange lol. Good job on finishing up all those duologies this year!
Right? Lol. I think I've read like 2 so far this year? Last year I only read FOUR. The year before I had read somewhere around 20, I think! 😬 (Although, to be fair, even though the Fear Street books are standalones, they're all part of the same world sooo 🤷♀️ lol)
