My husband's co-worker gave him a copy of The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness, and Greed before Christmas and raved about it. It sounds fascinating, so I'm nominating it as February's read.

The Golden Spruce is one of the best books I’ve ever read. It was so beautifully, expertly written I actually stopped reading it! I’m writing my own book (on the islands of the Great Lakes) and felt I could never weave together a gorgeous nonfiction story like this. But would love to have an excuse to dive back in.
