What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I go to a summer camp for people with disabilities.

I'm looking for a total of five books around 300 pages each that take place in summer camp or a summer camp for people with disabilities. A total of twelve suggestions would be good from each person as I'll have options.

Must be children's books

Well there is an older book called "The Horsemasters" by Don Stanford, about young people at an equestrian academy.

Not quite a "children's book" but suitable for older children: City Boy. It takes place in early 20th century in the Bronx and in a summer camp.

Just Plain Maggie: standard "girl struggles with homesickness and an unfriendly bunkmate but ends up having a fun summer" fare.

I think The Lightning Thief starts in a summer camp.

Another vote for The Horsemasters by Don Stanford, if you can find it. It's about young adults (the main character is eighteen) but doesn't have any "adult" content, and I read it as a fourth grader. It's still one of my favorite books. The Horsemasters

Sorry for any that aren't 300 pages long. I doubt there are many kids' books about summer camp that are that long.

When you say "Must be children's books," what age range are we talking about here?

In addition to the previously mentioned City Boy and Just Plain Maggie, I thought of Laura's Luck. It's the second in a series but stands alone pretty well.

I really think I could do this better if I knew the age range of the campers, but here's a few oldies but goodies that I remember passing around at camp that are at lest in the neighborhood of 300 pages:

Donna Parker at Cherrydale 282 pages
Cherry Ames, Camp Nurse 224 pages
Sal Fisher at Girl Scout Camp 218 pages
Maida's Little Camp 214 pages
Five in a Tent 200 pages


They were old then, and none of them are 300 pages, but, I hope it helps.
I tried to think of material that would come close to that 300 page mark. It would be easier to come up with some clean, relatively contemporary pieces that involve horse camps/summer camps if it wasn't for that 300 page per book goal.

I may be off base with this next recommendation. Iit's a series about a girl at horse camp, but none of the books are anywhere near 300 pages, more like 121 or so, but I'm still going to suggest it:
