I wonder if we can still use overdrive and if there will be anything available by the time I figure out if I can use it on my Mac min and then get there. I'd rather not read books on a computer monitor, though, so I would have to be desperate and I could always read from Gutenberg.

Now I wish I had. I figured out my plans on Sun, but then heard all the libraries were shutting down at midnight, indefinitely.
Sigh. Our books are also renewed till April 30.

Not to be morbid or anything, but this virus reminded me that I really need to update my will, and learn about living trusts, avoiding probate etc. And of course I'd rather use the library for this type of reading.

Yikes! That won't hold you very long.
The electronic ebooks and audios are still circulating as normal in my library.
You could always start a free 2 or 3 month trial of kindle unlimited, which includes some audios.

We shut down from day to day - only staff on thursday, so lots of people in this situation. I was home sick, so I didn´t pick up more, but I have loads already.

Honestly, I am having trouble focusing enough to read. I am working from home and, at least for now, working is occupying my brain better than reading. That may change though. I am currently in between books and need to start some, and that is always a weird time for me--needing to become invested in a book...

Ha! My exact thoughts. I have never had an "Own" shelf on GR's-so I set one up today, just for the books that are in the bedroom (as those are the ones I want to get to soon..

NancyJ - you are not alone in thinking about that. It's one of the things keeping lawyers with estate and elder care practices extremely busy these days.

It's one of the things that I've been putting off. That and my taxes.
When I started thinking about senior citizens at risk, I had to face facts that I'm getting up there in years, and I'm not in the best health.

Do they have any little neighborhood libraries in your area? I can't remember the official name. They have a website with maps to find them. I think they're all over the world. People set up a little kiosk in their front yard. You can drop off some books to each one near you.

I am having a really hard time accepting that at 64, only 5 months shy of 65th birthday, I am in the high risk group! As I came home ladt night at 9pm from the office, I was greeted by a sign in the elevator that there are neighbors willing to buy groceries for those 65 and older who are at risk.
And then there are all the Medicare info and sign-up notices I am getting...a great thing but man beat me over the head some more and remind me I am almost 65!
I have never in my life had any ussue with my age. My 60s are killing me! 🤣🤣🤣

I have one possibility of perhaps getting those books but it doesn't look promising.
On a positive note ... I finally managed to get my driver's license scanned so I could request an absentee ballot. Note to elected officials - NOT everyone has a scanner or a smart phone available to do this and WHY haven't the licenses been scanned and submitted by the polling places where we've been presenting said IDs for over a year already each time we vote!
Rant over ....
