Your teams spreadsheet has been added!

message 15: by GridGirl (new)

GridGirl | 166 comments Okay, so I have a question about the following task: "Book cover ONLY has the colors red, white & blue". I wanted to ask the team before I bother everyone else with my question. Does the cover need to have all three colors? Do you think They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera would work for this? It definitely has some black in it, so not sure if that's okay, and if it needs to have red it wouldn't work either.

message 16: by GridGirl (new)

GridGirl | 166 comments Also, how does the "Banked Books" tab on the spreadsheet work? And do we just put in our books that we have planned so far or do we discuss everything here before that? :)

I think one of the hardest categories from phase one is "Title has the letters J,A,R,V,I,S in it (in any order)". I don't have a single book that would fit in that category.

No, it needs to have all three - like Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston . However, you can use any edition of a book as well. If you have any questions about books for that, you can always ask :)

So, every team uses the banked books tab differently. You can use it for books that you are currently reading, or books that are read and reviewed but don't work for any categories in the phase that you are currently on. Just depends on what you all decide.

GridGirl | 166 comments So, are we planning to discuss what we want to read? I'd like to BR some of the books and it's easier to find buddies a little bit in advance :)

I can discuss them. I have a set list for now as I can only use the books already on my kindle/kobo and available at the library. I'll have more books if I get home on Friday.

GridGirl | 166 comments Great! So what categories do you think you can cover with those? :)
Do you maybe have one for the awful JARVIS category? 😅
Maybe you can put those that you have available right now in the Spreadsheet :)

message 26: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Well I'm mostly focusing on my Patricia Briggs books for now so I'll see what I can use those for. I'm sure I can find some alt editions that might work for JARVIS.

message 27: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I'll also be starting Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling sometime in April so that might work.

message 30: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I've put in the ones that work for phase one and two. I might have others that work for phase one but I'm focusing on my Patricia books first.

I also found this one The Girl Before by J.P. Delaney for the red/white/blue cover :)

message 33: by GridGirl (new)

GridGirl | 166 comments So, I put in mine as well, but feel free to move the books around, @everyone :)
I'm starting with 'The girl before' and 'The Three-Body Problem' tomorrow, so it would be great if these two could stay in Phase 1.

message 34: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I'll probably read my books for round 2 first as that's the order I have them in. Then when I get home and have them all again I'll start my books for round 1.

GridGirl | 166 comments Happy Reading, everybody! :)

message 38: by GridGirl (new)

GridGirl | 166 comments Hi everyone, I hope your reading is going good so far :)

So, I finished my first book Girls with Sharp Sticks and I'm thinking about moving some of my books around a bit now that I know more about the plot of this one, but I'm not sure if everything would be valid and if you are okay with that. Right now GwSS is in the category "MPG Sci-Fi", but I have a lot of Sci-Fi books, so it would be great to free up that space for another book of mine. I considered moving GwSS to the "MC has a mentor" category, because the girls in this book live in a school setting where they have professors, guardians etc who watch over them and guide them to be "good girls", so I think that would work for the mentor category. In the mentor category I have Catching Fire right now. I'm thinking about moving that one to "Features a rejection" which is free right now, because if I remember correctly (view spoiler) (Minor spoiler for Catching Fire).

Do you think moving things like that would work? :)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I'm home! I'm home! I'm hoooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Finally! 🥳 Thank you, Paris and Air France for getting me home!

Also I finished a book while I was traveling. Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs and got a good start on another. Fire Touched (Mercy Thompson, #9) by Patricia Briggs

I will be reviewing Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs in a bit and will probably almost finish Fire Touched (Mercy Thompson, #9) by Patricia Briggs today as well. I have to unpack and everything so I won't have a ton of time. But we are also in quarrentine for 14 days so no change and lots of reading time!

I think my books might work for other categories in the spreadsheet (I explained it in message 38), but I don't know if the books would actually count for these categories that I want to use them for, so I would like to have your opinion on it.

message 47: by GridGirl (new)

GridGirl | 166 comments But maybe Isabel could use "Be not far from me" for the rejection category? The blurb says the MC's boyfriend hooked up with another girl; I'd consider that a rejection. I don't think it would fit any other category from phase 1 🤔

You can always ask on the Q&A for sure. I think they could be fine but it's hard to know for sure. ^-^

I think if you can stretch it to work it will work. Most of the time if you explain it clearly enough and it doesn't have specific words like features or MC then it can be worked about. Even for features as long as it's a main plot point it should work.
