Has anyone started this yet? I just finished chapter 5 and (view spoiler)[as not sure I like Maya’s character. She’s a bit too whiny and negative for me. Hoping that’s because of her parents divorce and she finds her way as the book continues. She definitely needs to let go of her friend Sara (hide spoiler)]

I finished the book I despised it :( was gonna put it down in middle but I wanted to finish it so I can discuss it... anyone else finished?

@Eva Yikes that’s a strong word! I’m having trouble getting into it and I’m only on chapter 7... definitely want to hear your thoughts

I thought this book was okay. There were some definite flaws. I loved Jamie though.

And Jamie accidentally offers maya coffee during Ramadan and he considers their friendship may be a risk?? I’m sorry, what? I think we missed a few steps... (hide spoiler)]

Ugh I can’t get this book anywhere with all the libraries being closed!

I finished this book last weekend and it was an average book, I thought. But, I really did like the characters and I thought the explanations of gaslighting and political participation before voting age were really intriguing. I could have lived without the romance but it was sweet.

Y’all, I’m struggling with this one. Some of the political talk is intriguing, Jamie and Maya are cute I guess, but idk. I’m not really feeling it?? It definitely doesn’t feel like the “cross-cultural romance of the century” like the blurb said.

Also, if you’re library doesn’t have an ebook/audiobook platform, I’d suggest a Scribd membership! They have a 30-day free trial right now! 🤗
