Is your TBR getting out of hand? Do the books just keep piling up? Do you keep adding newer releases and forgetting about the older ones? If the answer is YES to all of these and you'd like some help cleaning up your TBR and finally getting to some of the older books you have stored for a long time but never seem to get around to reading them, then this challenge is for you!

Here are the guidelines for this challenge:

1. You must read a minimum of 2 books a month, each month. But you're welcome to do more if you want to LOL!
2. You can use books that are part of other reading challenges as long as they meet the guidelines.
3. The books must have been released for at least 1 year minimum, but of course can be older than that.
4. The books must have been added in your TBR shelves for at least 9 months, but can be older than that.
5. The books can't be short stories or novellas. They need to be at least 150 pages.
6. The books can be any genre and/or part of any series.
7. You will create a book shelf in your books and name it "TBR CLEAN UP" where you will add-in your books each month.
8. Once you agree to participate, just come here to this challenge thread and post the link to your shelf.

I know I can most certainly use all the help I can get in cleaning up TBR and I especially need to find the older books that keep getting buried underneath newer releases every month.

This challenge will start on January 1, 2015 and end on December 31, 2015.

Let's start cleaning!!

message 10: by Savannah (new)

Savannah | 312 comments I am so excited about this! The only problem is that most of the books on my TBR list were added within the last few months as I only found Goodreads not that long ago.

message 11: by Savannah (new)

Savannah | 312 comments Yeah, I just checked and only about 10 of the books on my TBR shelf are more than 9 months ago. Can I still join the yearly challenge?

Belkis (bminaya) | 8313 comments Savannah wrote: "Yeah, I just checked and only about 10 of the books on my TBR shelf are more than 9 months ago. Can I still join the yearly challenge?"

Yes Savannah, you sure can. This is where logic and fair judgement comes into play. If you haven't been on Goodreads for less than a year, then of course your TBR shelf isn't going to have books in them that meet the minimum shelf time requirements, but just try and read ones that have been published for at least a year :)

You can use library books or any free ebooks for this Tasha if that helps. You don't really need to buy any books necessarily.... let me know if you want/need suggestions and we'll be more than happy to help Tasha :)

Doomswife | 8 comments There's the library and I have a pretty extensive selection of Ebooks. I'm also pretty good at finding books online if you're interested. I read at least 100 books a year but I only buy about twenty. I would be homeless if I had to buy every book I read.

Yay! Great Doomswife, the more the merrier and I toally agree with you on the free ebooks. I get SO SO many free books that honestly there's no real reason to have to purchase unless you want to, which of I do LOL! Too much, I'd say.

Okay so for linking in your bookshelf, just go into your reading shelves and create a new bookshelf for this challenge. Name it TBR CLEAN UP, then select it so that it's the bookshelf that is open. Even if it's empty because you haven't yet added in the books you plan to read for this challenge, you can add them in as you go, or once you have them. Then, go to the up to the browser (while you have the TBR CLEAN UP shelf open) and highlight the "link" in the browser which is = https://www.goodreads.com/review/list and copy it then come here to your comment box and just paste it in and click on the post button. Once you click on post your link to your shelf will show.

To copy the link, once you double-click the browser (https://www.goodreads.com/review/...) it will become highlighted then right-click on it and select copy from the menu that displays, or you can also - once it's highlighted - click on it holding down the Ctrl + C keys on your computer keyboard and then come to your comment box here and click and then hold down the Ctrl + V keys and your copied link will be pasted in, and once you click on post your reading shelf link will be displayed :) I hope this clear, if not let me know.

I need this challenge! My TBR books are literally pilled up on the floor because they don't fit on my TBR bookshelf (yes I have an actual TBR bookshelf in my spare room). Unfortunately though almost of them I bought less than 9 months ago.

Read so far: 6

Katy H (the_other_katy) | 66 comments I'm interested in this too...I have a lot of overflow from last year's Series Challenge! Here's My TBR Clean Up Shelf .

My shelf is rather large, but there's a lot of overlap with my 2015 Mod's Authors challenge shelf...hopefully, this will help me to read more books in 2015!

January:
Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie & Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

February:
Into the Veil (Veilwalker Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer R. McDonald & Through the Gloom (Veilwalker Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer R. McDonald
(to be fair, I added the entirety of the last two books' trilogy only recently, but those 2 fit the criterion)

March:
Awoken (The Lucidites, #1) by Sarah Noffke , Stunned (The Lucidites, #2) by Sarah Noffke , & Reap (The Harvest Saga, #1) by Casey L. Bond
I was not well and ended up doing a few Read4Reviews and only reading books that didn't apply...d'oh!

April:
Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore & The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner

May:
First Year (The Black Mage, #1) by Rachel E. Carter & Finding Me by Dawn Brazil

June:
The Journey of the Marked (The Miyran Heir, #1) by Rebecca P. McCray was the only book I got done during this month that was old enough for this challenge. I spent the rest of the month either sick or working on a (really great) beta read for Sarah Noffke .

July:
Ever Darkening by Janeal Falor & Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

August:
Seventh Grave and No Body (Charley Davidson, #7) by Darynda Jones & Aqua (Aqua, #1) by M.A. George

Septempber:
Due to excessive health problems this month, I haven't finished anything, but I've partially completed:
The Scorch Trials & Great Expectations (though I'm only 9% done with that one.) I'm hoping to get those & hopefully a couple more done for October.

October:
The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner & Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles, #1) by Gena Showalter

November:
Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay is the only one old enough for this challenge but I got Slip (Slip, #1) by David Estes & Warriors (The Reverians, #3) by Sarah Noffke off my virtual "shelf" too.

December:

That should be okay Nicole, since like I explained before, 9 months for you owning them and/or having added them to your TBR is fine and as long as the release dates for the books is at least 1 year then it's all good :)

Thanks, cause I really don't want to have to wait 9 months to read them haha. My TBR bookshelf needs to be emptied ASAP (not to mention all of the TBR's on my kindle). I've committed myself to not borrowing or buying any more books until I've at least cleared a shelf. Which is really hard with all of the sales on at the moment.

Agreed! I actually when through earlier in the year and deleted alot of my TBR list, mainly just leaving the first book in the series. My list on Goodreads is currently sitting at 1368 books...and Ive been really good at not adding as many this year (only 49 that wont count for this challenge!!)
So with hopefully with my kindle arriving in the new year, I will be set :-)
