I don't think it's Fablehaven, I reread those fairly recently and don't remember the bridge.

This sounds really familiar. Could it be one of The Land of Stories books by Chris Colfer? I remember there several "bridge troll" type scenarios.
Pretty sure it's not Percy Jackson either, I've read those a million times and nothing like that is in it.
