Sandra (sanlema) | 11270 comments I have Narnia in my list too. And you remind me about Call the midwife... I should stop looking at the threads.

Janice (jamasc) | 59959 comments Welcome to the fray, Connie! :) The Ibis trilogy looks like something I'd enjoy.

I read Sea of Poppies and River of Smoke and gave them both 3 stars.

Their value is in the well told history of India and China, and the mostly British involvement in opium production. A complicated economic and philosophical maze that is unraveled well.

Now I've been reminded to add an other series to my list!☻

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Hi, girls! I am looking forward this new challenge. I read Sea of Poppies years ago, but I don't think I remember enough to complete a series. I may need to re-read it because there are so many characters, and it is pretty complicated; however, I remember loving the book.

Sandra, I need to get over to some other threads and get some inspiration, too. Hehe

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments Totally want the last Cromwell book. Wish it was already available....

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Hi Connie,
I see you have the Pearl S. Buck series. I wasn't sure I wanted to read the other two. I loved the first story but I didn't like their children at the end. I will be interested to hear how you feel about them.

I hope you enjoy the Charles Lenox Mysteries.

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Cherie, I agree that the first book was sort of depressing, but I am hopeful things will improve in the sequels.

I am looking forward to Charles Lenox as a lighter read to break up some of the heavier books. Have you read his books?

Anne, I love Narnia, too, and have wanted to read the entire series for ages. Maybe I'll actually make it this year!
Beth, I haven't started any of the Cromwell books, but I have had them since they were first published. I hope this last one makes the May publication date! I am looking forward to getting into them, but I'll wait to see if the third one actually makes the 2015 publication date before starting the series.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yes, Connie, I've read (actually listened to them all on audio) of the Charles Lenox books. I have the last one ,on CD, on my kitchen counter. I have been waiting to savor it for over a week now. As soon as I finish my current read, to kill off my second series, the first disk will go into my CD Player.

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Thanks for the recommendation, Cherie. I saw it on someone's list this past year and thought it looked interesting. Having your rec definitely moves it to the top of my list!

Janice (jamasc) | 59959 comments Did you enjoy The Charles Lennox series? I have the first book on my wishlist. Every time I see the cover, I think that I have to get it.

message 23: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Janice, the Charles Lennox series is great. The characters are so lovely and true to the Victorian Age, and I love the way the author works interesting little historical tidbits into the story. Great detective novels. Very well rounded characters and excellent plot structure. Each book left me with a lovely warm feeling at the end.
