Marina | 272 comments I just entered this challenge today and The Grapes of wrath happened to be the book I'm currently reading and luckily enough it is 513 pages.
I've chosen to read this for several reasons. I want to read more of these classical books, well just because they are classics and I'm curious to know why. Also I have this reading journal which contains lists of prize-winning books and must read books, and I want to cross off as many of these as possible.
I have just read The great Gatsby and Of mice and men and to learn more about America in the 1930s, the American dream and the depression I thought this might be the right book!

I'm a little behind already since I only decided to participate today but I'll do my best to catch up :-)

Thanks for the warning :-) I'm a little more than half-way through the book, but there are many indications that their hopes and dreams won't be fulfilled.

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 414 comments I loved this book! I love the style of alternating the chapters to talk about the general environment at the time and then zoom in on the specific story of the Joads. I hope you'll enjoy this as much as I did. Good luck! :)

Thanks :-) It's very different from books I usually read, but I do like it. I agree with the different types of chapters. And it gives a good impression of how life was for some people in that time.

I see you are reading Middlesex. I'm thinking about reading it, when we get to the books that's won a Pulitzer prize. Is it worth reading?
