My YA Contemporary Fiction novel Tales of a Weirdo has 54k words and is out on September 25, maybe you would be interested in it. It's hard to think of a similar book, though it bears some semblance to Bukowski's Ham on Rye. Also, there is coarse language and a slightly explicit sex scene but other than that it has no violence, rape, abuse, or anything like it.
