So, are you ready for your Mystery Date? Who will it be?

A famous actor?
A brainiac?
A drama queen?
Or, God forbid, Justin Beiber?
This Toppler is one week long, and will begin on February 7th at noon EST and end at noon EST on the 14th.

A few rules:
1. Books must be started and finished in this time period to qualify.
2. You may read any format - paperback, hardcover, ebook, or audiobook. For the last two use the page numbers on the first edition that comes up on the GR page.
3. Each book must be at least 175 pages.
4. Toppler books can count toward the monthly challenge, the group theme read, and the yearly challenge if they qualify.
5. You may plan ahead and choose books for the challenge, but you are not restricted to those books. You may swap them out at will..

So, let’s see who your mystery date is, and learn a few things about them.

What does your date look like? (For these books, the item must be on the cover.)

Read a book with a human head (or a human looking alien). Mostly the head, as little of the body as possible)
Read a book with a pair of eyes
Read a book with a torso, a frontal view
Read a book with a pair of legs
Read a book with a pair of shoes (you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes)

Read a book set in Africa
Read a book set in South America
Read a book set in Canada
Read a book set in an alien world or on some type of spaceship

Stephanie Hi, Camilla :-)

If anyone has an idea for a team name, shout it out and I can edit the thread once we agree upon a name.
I'm excited for the toppler team :-)

Stephanie I've thought of these names for our team so far:

The A-Team
All-Stars
Team Awesome Sauce

message 11: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Hi, Cherie!!

message 12: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments Hey, team! I'm so excited for another toppler.

My daughter and I tried to do some brainstorming for a team name. The best we could come up with was aHarmony. You know, like eHarmony, but with an 'a'. Sad. I'll keep thinking.

message 13: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I'm old school. I like A-Team!

message 14: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments I like the A-team, too. But that was our team name for the toppler last summer, and poor Travis ended up being Mr. T.

message 15: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments ROFL!!! Poor Travis. I remember that. Ok, A-Team is history.

message 16: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Checking in :) ::waves::

RE Name, I'm rubbish at that kind of thing but wouldn't it be good to tie it in with the theme, mystery date? Not that I can think of anything, told you I was rubbish .....

message 17: by Dominique (new)

Dominique | 1126 comments I do like All-Stars!!

message 18: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie How about A is for Alibi?
I've never read this mystery series but just remembered the title of the book :-)

message 19: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments I was wandering around the internet last night looking for ideas that would match the theme, and I found out the AARP has a dating website. I didn't know that.

Anyway, it got me thinking about letters and I came up with AAA Readers for a team name. It doesn't go with the Mystery Date theme though. Hopefully someone will come up with something soon.

If not, I'm okay with the All-Stars.

message 20: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I actually like the aHarmony idea. It's. clever and fits the theme.

message 21: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I thought A is for Alibi was pretty good too. Fits the mystery part. What if we changed alibi to something more dating themed....like alluring? A is for Alluring maybe?

message 22: by Kazen (last edited Jan 19, 2015 06:28AM) (new)

Kazen I like the whole "A is for (something)" idea! From my crazy I-really-ought-to-go-to-bed brain:

A is for Alluring (awesome, Annette!)
A is for Awesome
A is for Alliteration
A is for Affinity
A is for... is for-

~Kazen falls into bed~

-zzzzzzzzzz.

message 23: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I like the A is for Alluring, also. Or any A is for...

message 24: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hello. Ooh I'm looking forward to another toppler. *waves*

I like All-Stars and aHarmony hehe =]

message 25: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I usually stay out of team names as I just don't care. But aHarmony gets my vote. Clever and fits the theme

message 26: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Should we go with aHarmony, then? Seems like the majority likes it :-)
I will edit post #1 if this is the name that is agreed upon :-)
Just let me know. GR is having issues on my end and we are off to fish so I many not be on again till later..

message 27: by Dominique (new)

Dominique | 1126 comments aHarmony is good with me.

message 28: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments How about A is for Annoying, or A is for Ancient...

message 29: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I like aHarmony! I vote yes.

message 30: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I like aHarmony too!

message 31: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Awesome! I will edit our team name in post one then :-) should we have a team leader or do we wait until the rules are announced? I'm jumping the gun and nominating, Lanelle :-)

message 32: by Lanelle (last edited Jan 19, 2015 04:27PM) (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments Stephanie wrote: "Awesome! I will edit our team name in post one then :-) should we have a team leader or do we wait until the rules are announced? I'm jumping the gun and nominating, Lanelle :-)"

Ha! You're doing great so far. I was going to nominate you!

message 33: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thank you :-) this is only my second toppler so I'm not ready to be a leader yet :-)

message 34: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Other than getting things started, lol!

message 35: by Kazen (new)

Kazen I second - I was going to nominate Stephanie too! :D

message 36: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Stephanie - If you don't feel ready then don't feel you have to do it, however if you feel like getting your feet wet then share the responsibilities with a second person and that way you won't feel overwhelmed.

message 37: by Kazen (new)

Kazen jaxnsmom wrote: "How about A is for Annoying, or A is for Ancient..."

I see what you're doing. -_^

message 38: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thank you, Lynn :-) i could share some responsibilities :-) my only concern is that I don't have access to a real computer a lot of the time (my husband is doing some schooling on-line so he is on the computer a lot) so I am mostly on goodreads on my phone, which is why I don't hit the reply button most of the time :-) why oh why is there not a reply or edit button on the app? :-(

message 39: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Ah right, well yes from experience you do need access to the computer quite a lot to keep track of what's going on and updating the inevitable spreadsheet :)

message 40: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments How about you be cheerleader / counselor ie keep everyone motivated and help with any problems / questions and get someone else to keep track of the books?

message 41: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I could definitely do that!

cheer photo cheer.gif

message 42: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie So who would like to do the tracking?

message 43: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments I can do it if no one else wants to but will happily sit back and let someone else if they want they want the job. Anyone?

message 44: by Lanelle (last edited Jan 20, 2015 07:28AM) (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments This is my third team toppler. The first team toppler I participated in, there were 2 or 3 people designated to be cheerleaders. At first I thought it was silly.

For the second team toppler, no cheerleaders. Wow, what a difference. Although my team won, there was something missing. Those cheerleaders made a bigger impact than I imagined they would on our enthusiasm.

Um, no pressure, Stephanie. If someone else wants to assist Stephanie, I think it would be good for everyone.

message 45: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments Lynn wrote: "I can do it if no one else wants to but will happily sit back and let someone else if they want they want the job. Anyone?"

Lynn, if you could take care of the spreadsheet, that would be great. I lack the knowledge and equipment to do that. (Tablets are great, but limiting.)

message 46: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments Does anyone want to be our fearless leader?

message 47: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Lanelle wrote: "Does anyone want to be our fearless leader?"

Well I kind of saw it as whoever took the two roles would be the combined leader.

One person would be a cheerleader but also who would be the one to deal with any problems, questions, need to go to Jmom to work out what on earth was going on. Which Stephanie seemed to be up for.

The other would keep track, do the spreadsheet etc.
That can be me if you want.

Do you think we need someone else? Is there another role to fill?

message 48: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I think the leadership roles the way Lynn explains them sounds perfect. Lynn and Stephanie seem like the leaders we are looking for.

message 49: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4026 comments I guess we'll need to have Stephanie let us know what responsibilities she thought she agreed to when said she'd be a cheerleader.

It's a good thing we have time to work all this out before the toppler begins :)

message 50: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Oh I can be the cheerleader person that says YAY! Way to go:-) I can also go to jaxnsmom if our group has questions and such! I love finding pictures to post that are positive (via photobucket). I have the app on my phone, woohoo! Last toppler, Almeta taught me how to copy and paste from photobucket :-)
