Hello folks..and sorry for the delay... again.

Right ho....it's here. This theme could turn out be awful or okay or brilliant...or hardly anybody offers anything up...we shall see. I've only got a couple of noms myself, so let's see how this one pans out:

"We're playing...where?!" Live performances in unusual venues/places. Some bands have performed at some odd places over the eons. So, pick a song (and YT vid link, if available), performed at strange places. It could be out at sea, on an active volcano, in the middle of a jungle or in a desert, in a war torn country, at an ancient site, like an Inca/Aztec city, an isolated monastery on top of mountain...and so on...you get the drift. The odder the better'

kicking off. During their Canadian tour (documented on the Under Great White Northern Lights releases) the White Stripes, in addition to playing regular venues, also did mini shows in unusual situations. This was filmed on a transit bus in Winnipeg.

I struggled, especially as the performance place is meant to be unusual as possible!
There's a whole load of those small desk concerts, but that's not very unusual of lots of bands have done them.

Jodrell Bank often has performances. My sister saw The Prodigy there. Might be a list somewhere. If it counts as unusual.

There's also the Devil's Arse cave in Castleton - Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker have played there and are on YT.

right oh....let's see who came up top of the bill...and ah..would ya look at that.......It's Pink Floyd! :)

Tech may hate them (but to be fair..he does hate pretty much everything bar rasta music and 1970s punk, so no loss there!)....the king of the prog rockers Pink Floyd takes the crown with their epic live performance of Echoes Part One at Pompeii, scoring 24 points....so yours truly gets the gold.

Several points fewer, but nevertheless, comes in 2nd is End Of The Line by The Traveling Wilburys, recorded on a moving train, with 18 points is Jemma, so you get the silver tiara.....and finally...

a little further back is Fingers of Love by Crowded House, outside the Sydney Opera House. That one scored 11 points, so Rob gets a knight's brass helmet....don't ask..it's all i could think of! Oh..and apologies to Rob for omitting the band's name from his nomination when i posted my votes....i dunno how i did that...sorry.

And we do have a wooden spoon awardee too. Alas i suspect the awful sound quality from the amateur recording of the White Stripes impromptu live performance (on a camera phone presumably?) was more to blame than the song..as i quite like Hotel Yorba myself. So alas, tim collects the timber kitchen utensil for his trouble.

A good effort from all of you that managed to find something for this theme, so thank you folks....it could have been worse! By all means do pat yourselves on your own backs. :)

apart from being hot poop for a few years, touted as the 'alternative' of the times, how quickly did they become the mainstream, the tory party of music, the corporate executives of music, the bland and unchallenging face of big time rock/prog. since 'wish you were here, they've pumped out ever decreasingly irrelevant mush that didn't require much input to sell in shedloads because of their early legacy. so c'mon, without googling, what was their last album called?

The last 'proper' studio album was 'The Division Bell' a long time ago. There has been a more recent one, but it was effectively cobbled together using bits and pieces by Rick Wright (the band's keyboard player) who had recently died. And, yes, no googling was involved.

I suggest you take a listen to 1977's Animals, which lyrically at least is as punk as many punk bands. Floyd did go downhill after that record, sadly, as Mr Waters became increasingly self-absorbed in his ideas.
