Hi, I like steamy not erotic historical romance too. Have you tried Stacy Reid, Grace Callaway, or Scarlett Scott? I think they would fit in that category. I am reading Amy Sandas right now, it is good and steamy too, plus a good story. Hope that helps!

Jan (jan130) | 2673 comments Elizabeth Hoyt's Maiden Lane series is pretty steamy.

Some of Lisa Kleypas books are also on the steamy side. I recently reread Mine Till Midnight and I had forgotten how many sex scenes there were LOL. (Almost too many for me!)

Madeline Hunter's Rothwell brothers series, maybe? They were a good read, and from memory had some steam.

❁ lilyreadsromance ❁ (lilyreadsromance) Try Passion by Lisa Valdez! I don't know how to say this but this almost bordering on erotica but seriously SERIOUSLY good! It's basically a normal HR but very very steamy.

Missy | 1482 comments I recall two series written by Tracy Anne Warren that have quite a bit more sex scenes than most HR books I've read (besides the ones already mentioned above by the other members).

The Byrons of Braebourne and the spin-off series of the other three Byron siblings, The Rakes of Cavendish Square.

Mariana | 2692 comments I recommend The Merry Widows Series by Karen Erickson, Claiming Her by Kris Kennedy, and Improper Series Bundle: Improper Relations\Improper Arrangements\Improper Proposals by Juliana Ross.

I find that Sylvia Day and Caroline Linden both write satisfying sex scenes for me.

I recently read a couple of books by Anne Stuart - Reckless and Breathless. They were very steamy with good stories. However if you after books with lots of descriptive sex then these may not fit the bill (the second one has more sex scenes than the first). These have been my favorite reads of the past month or so.

message 7: by Missy (new)

Missy | 1482 comments Anna Campbell is another author with several sex scenes.

Have you explored what is often categorized as Historical Erotica Romance - like Kate Pearce or Jess Michaels?

Julie Anne Long is another that writes some great scenes in my opinion.

BJ (barbararhodes) | 7 comments You might like to try Golden Angel's books. The 1st book is probably the least amount of steam if I remember correctly. The series is Domestice Discpline.
Philip's Rules (Bridal Discipline #1) by Golden Angel
I really enjoyed the series and enjoy this author's books and each book seemed to improve on previous.
Another favourite author is Annabelle Anders, and Lady Saves The Duke (Lord Love a Lady #3) by Annabelle Anders is a favourite.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 584 comments Kerrigan Byrne's Victorian Rebels series is quite steamy. Highly recommended for those who enjoy some suspense with their historical romance.

I second Elizabeth Hoyt's books.

Missy | 1482 comments I haven't read a book by Minerva Spencer (she also writes as S.M. LaViolette) but one reviewer for The Music of Love (The Academy of Love, #1) by Minerva Spencer The Music of Love claimed that this author "is a master of steamy, can’t-put-it-down historical romance." Full review.

I have to agree with you Lauren on Kerrigan Byrne and Elizabeth Hoyt books.

Missy | 1482 comments Also try Maya Banks, particularly Seduction of a Highland Lass.

Susan in Perthshire (susanageofaquarius) | 109 comments Elizabeth Hoyt, Emma V Leech, Lisa Kleypas - all good.

Tammy | 127 comments I listening to Her Night with the Duke (Clandestine Affairs, #1) by Diana Quincy , I'd say it's steamy

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments If you don’t object to bodice rippers, try Bertrice Small older books. I think she may have been steamier and wrote edgier, envelope-pushing sex scenes than her peers back in the day. But the books I’m thinking of are un PC and may not be palatable to present day HR audiences, so beware!

Also, a more recent HR that was really steamy (if I had read it in hard-copy rather than eBook, it would have burnt my hands!) is Midnight's Wild Passion by Anna Campbell.

I am not a Bertrice Smalls fan as I don't enjoy most bodice rippers, but I did enjoy Francesca. It does have descriptive sex scenes, but it wasn't particularly steamy to me. This was one of her later works (maybe even her last?). If I remember correctly, Francesca is 14; and her lover/betrothed/husband was double that, 28-30. It is set in medieval Italy and the setting felt historically accurate. Unusual for HR, it is a tragedy.
