Chad Jarnigan I am having trouble finding a book that is actually scary. I understand some books scare people because of a phobia of certain things like clowns and Stephen King's "IT" for example. What books would you guys consider actually scary? The closest thing i have found so far to bothering me is books about phycological issues. I think i am more of a visually scared person so books are having a hard time doing it. If you have any recommendations please feel free to share! Hope everyone is having a great Holiday season so far, and hope you continue to have a Merry Christmas

Randy Money | 432 comments For psychological horror, try A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay by Paul Tremblay.

Is Marjorie possessed or is she insane? Either way, what are the consequences to her family?

Another possibility is The Red Tree by Caitlín R. Kiernan by Caitlin R. Kiernan. Reality seems a bit too fluid here, and whether it's the protagonist's perception or some power of the setting is up for debate.

Rory (rorygallagher) Hi All, weird question. I am looking for a book, mid-to-late 80's where plot is a cross between wishmaster movies and a later book called Relic. This was set in a major American city where a detective/journalist is investigating a series of horrors related to the Goddess Kali(spirit or monster) and an artifact imported/stolen from India. I read it as a young teenager, snatched from my dad's pile of assorted novels, and really enjoyed it but my dad returned it his friend and I totally forgot about it. Years later when Relic came out I remembered book had very nearly same plot but couldn't recall name. Now saw Relic on streaming service and reminded again.
Can anyone help with a title?
Thanks!
