Beena (beenz) | 2198 comments Also really looking forward to the Faithful and the Fallen- I've seen a lot of good reviews for this, so I can't wait!

Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay- I've not read any of his work yet but I have an inkling it's gonna be good...

And The Gentleman Bastard series by Scott Lynch, need some good grimdark in my life and hoping this will deliver!

message 9: by Eva (new)

Eva | 79 comments Yes, add me to the list of people wanting to read The Faithful and the Fallen! 🤩

Also can't wait to read The Five Warrior Angels series (The Forgetting Moon) by Brian Lee Durfee (which will be finished this year).

And as a big fan of Graceling and Bitterblue, I'm so happy the Graceling Realm series is finally being finished properly with Winterkeep (although all previous books also worked as standalones).

My main goal for 2021 is to finish the Realm of the Elderlings - Fool's Errand is the next on the list for me.

Other books/series I'm interested in:

The Rage of Dragons
Magician: Apprentice Volume 1

message 14: by Hailee (last edited Jan 23, 2021 04:06AM) (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments My top 3 series that I want to read this year is:

The Crimson Empire starting with: A Crown for Cold Silver Book One of the Crimson Empire by Alex Marshall
The Commonwealth Saga starting with Pandora's Star (Commonwealth Saga, #1) by Peter F. Hamilton
The Gilded Wolves starting with The Gilded Wolves (The Gilded Wolves, #1) by Roshani Chokshi (book 1 will be a reread but the final book in the trilogy comes out in September so towards the end of the year I will reread it and then complete the series)

Top 3 books:
Wrath (The Faithful and the Fallen, #4) by John Gwynne (I am rereading the first three books before I complete this series)
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
The Black Coast (The God-King Chronicles, #1) by Mike Brooks

I don't even know what it's about Katie! But it's not Realm of the Elderlings. I'm hoping to get a buddy read together when I know when I'll have time to read it (baby due next month!!), if you'd be interested in joining me?? :)

message 16: by Eva (new)

Eva | 79 comments By the way, all the people who've expressed interest in The Faithful and the Fallen: there will be a buddy-read starting on Feb 11 here:

@Siobhan - If you can read this series without having read the Realm of the Elderling series first I might join you. It'll be good to read a bit of Robin Hobb but I'm in the middle of too many long series to commit to Elderling this year. This would be a good compromise.

Also I think I might have said this on another thread but just in case I didn't congratulations on impending motherhood 👶😊

Ahhh yes this is totally separate to RotE so might be ideal for you! ☺️

Thanks so much Hailee! ❤️

message 19: by Katie (new)

Katie K | 2600 comments @Siobhan ~ ooh yes! Yeah it sounded like it wouldn’t be a realm of the Elderling piece so it will be interesting to see a new viewpoint! I’d love to read it with you sometime this year. Whenever everyone has free time ^~^

Baby next month?! Oh my goodness. Time flies!! How exciting ^~^

message 20: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments That's great, I'm starting The Faithful and the Fallen this month so probably be a few months before I get to Hobb, but will give you and Hailee a shout!

Sounds good. I don't own the books and probably won't buy them until I know when we'll read them (unless waterstones have a double stamps sale lol) so just give me at least a week or two's warning 😊

Btw are you reading all the Faithful and the Fallen books with buddies on Bookstagram? If so are you doing one a month or one every two months like us?

We haven't actually decided yet! I would probably choose to do one a month. Do you already have threads for the whole series?

I'll definitely give you a few weeks notice for Soldier Son :)

message 23: by Hailee (last edited Jan 24, 2021 06:03AM) (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments Great thanks and no I've only requested Malice so far. I think we're pretty confident it'll be on a one every two month basis but I thought it would be better to make a definite decision and request the rest of the threads once we've read book 1 and everyone knows at what pace they can read them.

Shae | 372 comments 1. The Wisdom of Crowds - This is due to land in September - I can't wait for more Abercrombie!
2. The Free Bastards - Also due to land in September, this trilogy has been great, fairly crude and quite funny, but not without heart.
3. The Blacktongue Thief - Robin Hobb wrote a great review for this one, so I'm curious to check it out :-)
