GridGirl | 166 comments I have a question about the points for the bracket categories (I don't think it's explicitly mentioned in the Sign-Up page): Are those the same that we get for the final results (eg. page points, buddy read points etc.) or is it just one point per book?

So, if I read a 800-page book for Aquaman (no BR or anything), will that be 8 points for that category or 1?

Good question! It will be one point per book posted for that category/movie. There is a page point system set in place for the books you read but that's just for your individual/team scoring. So for example,

If you read the following:
Stillhouse Lake (Stillhouse Lake, #1) by Rachel Caine by Rachel Caine

and you posted it or Aquaman because it's on the water list. You would get 3 pts due to the page amount being 301. (If it was a BR with something within this group then you would get double the pts.) The scoring would look like this:

______Name__|___Books__|___Buddy___|___Pages___|___Total___
____________|___Read___|___Reads___|___Read____|__Points___

GridGirl____|_____1____|__________|_____3____|_____3____
ADDMEMBER___|__________|__________|__________|__________

Total_______|_____1____|__________|_____3____|_____3____

ROUND 1:
__________Marvel___________|_Vote__|_Vote__|

Aquaman_vs_Constantine_____|___1___|___0___|

Vicki wrote: "Can we start on our books as long as we don't finish them before April 1?"

Hmm... if you read over 100 pages in April then I will allow it to be used for a category. If not, then it will just count as page points for what you read in April.

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 1993 comments Where do you find how a book is tagged? I'm thinking The Cost of Knowing by Brittney Morris would be tagged as "crime" but I don't know where to check if it is.

message 8: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Rae I feel like I've read this somewhere. But what do you do if you read a kindle published book that does not list the page count on Goodreads?

When you go to the books page, you will see the Genres on the right side.

You will then click 'See top shelves' and then you will look through all those tags to see if the book was tagged "Crime".

After looking through the pages, I can say that the book in question was tagged crime.

D.G. To see which movie won...do we pool the results of both teams? or does each team have their own brackets?

It’s the same bracket for both teams. I’ll update who won and moved forward when the rounds end at midnight. So the first round ends on the 6th. You’ll know the morning on the 7th

GridGirl | 166 comments I have a question concerning the tasks of the type "MC is/does/has ...". Who counts as a Main Character?
To be more concrete, in the synopsis of The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1) by Becky Chambers only one of the crew members of the Wayfarer (Rosemary) is mentioned, but we get POVs of all of the crew members (though Rosemary has probably the most of them). Do the other crew members count as MCs or does MC specifically describe the single character that is most important in the story? How strict is the definition of main character?

I would accept anyone who has a POV. But I would also see Harry, Ron and Hermione being main characters in a book like Harry Potter. Ya know?

Caroline | 2102 comments Hey, I asked this in another Q&A thread, so hopefully it is not nagging to ask again. I just don't know if Felicia saw it.

I just finished the ebook How to Get a Job Secrets of a Hiring Manager by Alison Green and the only way I could find a page count was the Count Pages plugin in Calibre, which said 113 pages. Is it okay to use that as the page count?

Yes, you can use that page count. Is there any chance you can add the link to that as well?

Thanks! I'm not sure what link I can add, since Calibre is a desktop program. I could take a screenshot of the output if that would help?

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments Alaina, if I read a book (for example) on April 10 may I still use it for the week of April 13-18 or must it be read and finished the week within the dates given on the SS?

Yes. Any book you read from April 1st until now can be used for the round you are currently on ☺️

You can use them for this weeks round. Never past rounds. Only the current one.
