Aileen Grenville: Blanche’s sister; living with her in the semi-detached

Aunt Sarah: Blanche’s aunt; who minces no words

Edwin Grenville: Blanche’s brother

The Hon. W Grenville: Blanche, Aileen, and Edwin’s father

Dr Ayscough: Blanche’s doctor

Harcourt: Friend of Edwin; suitor for Rose's hand
Grey: Edwin's friend
Col. Hilton: engaged to Aileen Grenvile

The Duchess of St. Maur: a friend of Lady Blanche and her sister; sister of Col Hilton

Mrs Hopkinson: who lives on the other side of the semi-detached
