Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon discussion

We are now 8 hours into the readathon! Let's take another 60 minutes to read as much as you can!

Yay! I was finally able to participate in my first reading sprint of the readathon! I decided to read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the illustrated edition!
I read 50 pages which means I can use it towards my BINGO challenges!

We are 45 minutes away! This time I am participating for sure. I'll be reading this new illustrated Harry Potter book...

I missed the first two sprints so I’ve set my alarm!

starting at page 186 in . got a little derailed when the 17 year old emerged to chat for a while, but looking forward to this spring!

I've got 45 pages left of The Phantom of Five Chimneys, so I'm challenging myself to see if I can finish it this hour! I started off kinda sleepy with this book, but my energy levels are coming back up now.

I'm in! I'm starting Lumberjanes, Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy.

I've got exactly 100 pages left in my second book so might be able to finish in this sprint!

Isn't hour 8 next hour? Start time was 8am (for me) so hour 8 would be 4pm...right? I get so confused with the sprints, I really need to chart the hours to my time next time!

Only got 30 pages read. I am super tired and going to take a nap. Would have gotten more read but I kept nodding off and having to reread segments.

8 hours in (so 4pm for you) is the end of hour 8. I feel like a lot of people get that mixed up lol.

I managed to finish The Phantom of Five Chimneys, AND I read the first chapter of Lumberjanes, Vol. 5: Band Together! Not too shabby!

Finished 39 pages for the hour 8 sprint. Less than 40 pages before I finish Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman.

Read 75 pages of Less by Andrew Sean Greer. On the final chapter now so I’ll sprint a little longer before breaking for lunch.

I managed 77 pages of Home Before Dark.

40 more pages of Hamnet in that sprint. I think 1 more sprint should do it and I'll finish the book!

I start a sprint now. Reading One Special Summer by Jacqueline Bouvier and her sister Lee Bouvier.

I read 45 pages of The Neverending Story. Lying on my bed reading. Bad idea as it's 10 pm here and now I'm so tired...

OK, now I am deep into The House in the Cerulean Sea. I like challenging myself to read without breaks.

oooh, seems like a successful sprint for many!! for some reason i've just been hanging out in the "for the blogless" section of the board. but i'm excited to join the next sprint!!

Took me daily walk and listened to The Coldest Case by Patterson (Audible Original). Really good but going to set it aside for awhile and read Anxious People (Bachman ) that I started earlier in the week. Lots of fun to read others' posts!

I had to start charting out the hours a few 'thons back when I get real turned around. Since it's more about the hour span you are in, just counting the hours is where I'd always get turned around. No matter how many times I knew the 'right' way to count it (as in like 8-9am = 1, 9-10am = 2, 10-11am = 3) I'd always try to just add, say 8am + 3 and get 11am as the start of hour 3.

Once I wrote a chart for myself one year trying to figure out when I was hosting a thread, I realized I should just incorporate that into my notebook tracking lol. Something about time spans always make me second guess myself.

Switched books and started The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery; read the preface (the pages of which were not numbered) and the 1st 19 pages.
