laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) description

But first, I need your help!

Let me know what types of prompts you'd like to see, and I will try to incorporate them into this year's Summer Days Challenge.

Deadline for suggestions is May 10th, to give me time to create the challenges and give you all time to find your books before the challenge begins on June 1st.

Summer Days 2021 lasts from June 1st to July 31st

Raquel (mahayhay) | 212 comments I would love to have a prompt(s) focused on LGBTQ+ main characters, especially with Pride Month coming up (at least here in the U.S.)

I also like the prompts that encourage me to read the classics. So maybe prompts like Read a book written in the 19th century or something along those lines.

Amelia (whatameliareads) | 268 comments I would also like some LGBTQ+ prompts.

I would also like prompts that will lead to reading diverse books eg: disability

maybe 'a book based at the beach' or 'where the character takes a holiday' to link to the summer theme?

Melanie | 167 comments I like prompts that lead me to my massive TBR list. I'm a procrastinator after all. So reading a book that's been on my TBR list for a year, two years, more than 5 years etc.

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments I like prompts about the authors such as 'an author who lived in X' , 'who is LGTB+' , 'who likes cats'... They are easier to search for the previous list of books.
Also some easy prompts as 'a book that has a 6 on its page count' but maybe they are So easy haha

Jen K | 1547 comments Also happy to celebrate Pride month, June also has Juneteenth and the Father's Day to celebrate but those are also very US centric.

I loved the time periods given last summer because I really liked the option of published during OR set in that time period.

Hat on the cover or water on the cover for summer? Maybe a winter book for those south of the equator?

Elysian (haeliks) | 255 comments - Definitely some LGBT+ prompts!
- Maybe some more generic prompts for diversity like: read a book by an Asian/ black/ European author
- read a graphic novel prompt (would be nice)

then some summer specific prompts like:

- book with a yellow/ orange cover (sun colors)
- book with a blue cover (pool, ocean colors)
- book that is set in summer
- book title that starts with S
- book that satisfies your summer nostalgia
- book that will make you cry an ocean
- book with a school setting (idk but summer always reminds me of school summer break)
- a book about/with pirates
- book set in a country you are not from (travels)

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Thank you for all your suggestions! You gave me a lot to work work, and I did my best to accommodate as many suggestions as possible while trying not to make the prompts *too* hard.

Jen K | 1547 comments The prompts look great! A great balance of diverse reading and fun finds.

The one that looks most challenging to me is the 4.5 or higher rating.
