This thread is to discuss Origin by Dan Brown, the fifth book of the Robert Langdon series.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

I won't be starting this one until mid-month or so. I'm juggling quite a few buddy reads and book club reads this month. (Someone should curb my enthusiasm for such!!! LOL 😲🙄)

Haha, hope you have fun with your buddy reads and book clubs this month! I’m still behind, so I’m going to try to catch up first.

I should be on track to start this later in the week and finish it over the July 4 (LONG) weekend! I'm really anxious to read it as I've loved all Dan Brown's novels I've read!

Well, it is Sunday the 4th and I am beginning this now. :)

Wow. Brown just sucks me right in from the first few pages! He really is a skilled mystery/thriller writer! Only 20 pages in and can't wait to get home and read more tonight!

I’ve finally caught up and I’m starting today!

I finished this Sunday. As usual for me with a Dan Brown novel, I loved it. I particularly enjoy the way Brown doesn't shy away from (view spoiler)[showing some of the more negative sides of organized religion. Although I personally do not ascribe to any organized religion, I appreciated the way he left it so open to personal interpretation and opinion in the end.

I have to admit that the "love" Ambra professes for Robert at the end was a bit out of place, IMO. I didn't think there was that much interpersonal interaction between these two characters to warrant that... Although this book was published in 2017 and I just read that he and his wife split up in 2019 and the divorce has yet to be finalized...so perhaps his concentration wasn't quite like in the past? LOL ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (hide spoiler)]
