message 30: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13284 comments Went totally OTT with BRs at the start of the May challenge, so think this might be a little more 'mood reading'. I have a ridiculous amount of books on my TBR list - physical and ebooks - so cannot understand why I am struggling to work out what I want to start reading next...

booknerd27 (booknerd2717) | 10 comments My TBR List For This Challenge
Catch Me If You Can The True Story of a Real Fake by Frank W. Abagnale
The Railway Children by E. Nesbit
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
I will update as I go

Courtney {Catching feelings for me pup?} Hi, everyone. I just joined this group. So I just pick books based on the challenges and then update as I go? Or can I just read anything?

Coco_Bush_Lightweight wrote: "Hi, everyone. I just joined this group. So I just pick books based on the challenges and then update as I go? Or can I just read anything?"

Hi! Welcome to the group :) You can read any book you like, and you can post your reviews of the books in the review thread for this challenge (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...). After reading, you just write a review of what you thought in the book, and post it in there! You can claim points by posting these reviews, buddy reading books (so reading them with someone else, posting updates on that book's thread and discussing the book) and by looking at the rules of this challenge (they are shown at the top on the review thread!).

This challenge is the Harry Potter challenge, so the rules also relate to Harry Potter. For example, say I just finished Iron King by Julie Kagawa. I then go and look at the descriptions of this month's challenge, and I see I can claim points for 'Is written by a female author', or for example for 'has a 5 letter word in the title/series name/author name ('Julie').
If the book also has more than 600 pages, you can claim the Special Hermoine bonus too, which gives you even more points!

So the comment I would post in the review thread will look like this:

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa
Bonus?: Yes, Transfiguration (written by a female author)
Special Hermoine Bonus?: No
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Buddy: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Pages: 572 - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

And that's that! Always pick the edition with the most possible pages, even if that's not the edition you've read.

I hope this is clear, let me know if you have any other questions :)

Courtney {Catching feelings for me pup?} Ok, thanks so much.

On the influence of cognitive mistakes on the relationship between certain antisocial personality traits and delinquent behavior! So basically forensic psychology/brain! :) I think it went well, but there was this professor who was specialized in this certain area with very difficult questions, but I feel like I talked my way out of them :D
