Janice (jamasc) | 59940 comments This looks like it will be lots of fun! Off to gopher.

message 3: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Hopper | 2428 comments I have chosen my titles for the Toppler. Might be a wee ambitious, but we will see.I have no idea how to set up a thread or I would have done it. Guess I need to learn!

message 4: by Janice, Moderator (last edited May 29, 2021 11:45AM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59940 comments It's easy! Click on "TBR Topplers" at the top of the page and it will take you to the folder. Then about the column "Last Activity" there is a tiny link that says "new topic". Click it and follow the instructions.

Whoever wants to be scorekeeper can set up our reporting thread that way.

I don’t mind being scorekeeper. Do I have to do a spreadsheet or can I keep up with it and report it on the thread? I don’t mind the work, it’s the process! I did see where you start a new topic…

message 6: by Lanelle (last edited May 29, 2021 12:52PM) (new)

Lanelle | 4024 comments Thanks for starting our team thread, Janice. Do we want to come up with a team name? I don't know anything about spreadsheets, so I would't be a good choice as scorekeeper :(

I've done a bit of gophering. Here are my options: (view spoiler)

Sharon Hopper | 2428 comments My choices are…
(view spoiler)

I am practicing with spreadsheets. I guess someone else will need to do that part, but hope to be able to do it in the future.

Christina ❤️M❤️ (christir1159) | 1 comments I am afraid that I might not be understanding things correctly... I can read anything from a male author and it counts or does the book get points for having extra options. I am sorry, I can be a bit dense at times.

Christina ❤️M❤️ (christir1159) | 1 comments Oh... and I was think hAAs! would be a good team name. Makes me think of someone really strong and if we capitalize the As for being Team A.

You can read anything that fits the tasks, but you are awarded points based on the length.

Scoring:
As with real tug-o-war, some people are stronger pullers. For our game, some books pull harder. Therefor, the books will be weighted as follows:

175-274 pages = 1 point
275-374 pages = 2 points
375-474 pages = 3 points
475+ pages = 4 point

You don't need to do a spreadsheet. You can do it with paper and pencil if you like. You could do it right on the reporting thread. I think this one is going to be easy to track. Just list each person on the team, then add up the scores for their books and then total for the team.

Female MC -
➽ - Witching For Grace, kindle, 278 pgs (2 pt)
➽ - Silence Fallen, audiobook, 11:13, 371 pgs (2 pts)

message 25: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Hello team! Thanks Janice for setting up the thread and Sharon for being score keeper. I agree, this seems an easy one to track so the reporting thread is probably enough.

I'm away the first weekend but i'll have time to read in the evening. I'll do some gophering later.

Janice (jamasc) | 59940 comments Do we want to settle on a name?

hAAs
AAA Tuggers
A-Tugging and A-Reading
Tug-naciously Reading

I just thought of another one - Tug One, Pull All.

Any other ideas?

Well, I am but feeling better about it and having a model helps. I am old enough to remember doing them as a school administrator years ago and having to use all of the formulas, etc. Google docs was way easier! This old dog may not be too old to learn new tricks. Plus my daughter helped me import it. (I took notes!) We’ll see! LOL!

message 34: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Hopper | 2428 comments I kinda like Tug-naciously Reading

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments I can read:
Raising Wrecker for female author.

But I can take some thin books to read also.

Oh, sorry, I've read 'female author'! But it counts for 'female MC'.

message 40: by Odette (new)

Odette (odman) | 997 comments I like Tug-naciously Reading.

message 41: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I have a few options picked out:
Home 176pgs (Female MC)
The Martian Chronicles 182pgs (Male author)
Star Nomad 253pgs (Female MC)
In the Blood 280pgs (Female MC)
River Marked 290pgs (Female MC)
I'm thinking I'll start with Home as it is the shortest book and I'll definitely be able to finish that in the week. Then I will pick up River Marked as it's familiar and I like the series.

message 47: by Sarah (new)
