About Atlas

This was my first colleen book. Pretty intense .Am I thre only one who is not somewhat into lilly and atlas's reunion? I don't know why but the sudden reapperence and lilly going back to him was unnecessary. This particular plot ,according to me defiled the whole message of book. In order to get out of abusive relationship you donot need any other person if you want to walk out you can. So for me ,even though lilly left Ryan on her own but she going back into another relationship is bit rushed for me

I think atlas is the kind of guy most of the girls need . The kind of guy who will never give up on the girl he loves still he never pushes her to do things and waits for her and accept her decisions. The type of guy who is too good to not love

I loved Atlas and Lily's reunion. They both had such an impact on each others lives and had such a deep connection. I don't think Lily needed Atlas to get out of her abusive relationship. She got out by herself, she by herself made the very difficult choice to leave Ryle. Atlas was just there for her when she needed him. I love their reunion because Atlas and Lily waited until the time was right to get together, so Lily had time to sort everything out before going back to Atlas. Their relationship definitely isn't the main aspect of the book, but I think it's a big part of what makes the book so wonderful.

I completely agree with you! I think it was important for Lily to get out of her abusive situation without being "rescued" by Atlas. This gave her the

i feel like lily and atlas need their own book simply because we (coho fans) want to see more of atlas
I agree, I thought that bringing Atlas back into the plot was absolutely pointless. It isn't that she had brought him back, it's just how she did it. His character had no importance to the plot or enough character development to really stick with me. For me personally I felt his character would fit more with the perfect stranger clithe instead of being a first love. It would have been more romantic to see some chemistry between them instead of journal readings. It would be so cute to see a romance bloom between them while she tries to get away from Ryle. He just wasn't there enough if that makes sense.
I fell in love with him even though he was BARLEY in the book, that's why I've gotta get It Starts With US.
Atlas is the kind of guy that only wants what's best for Lily. He wants her to be safe and cared for. I don't think his intention was to get back together with her, but to keep her safe from Ryle. While I believe both male character's loved Lily, I think Atlas had a true understanding of who she is and cared for her on another level than Ryle did.
I don't think the reason she left Ryle was because she wanted to go into another relationship and I don't think she needed Atlas. But I think Atlas made her think about the past and how her dad used to be so then she realized that Ryle put her in the same situation. And she just needed the help of someone else, I don't think people need someone else to leave a relationship but a lot of people do need the support of others. And I think Atlas gave her that support. She didn't go for Atlas right away but some time after she left Ryle. So I
I'm not going to lie I feel like atlas was a pointless character.

AGREED! Atlas & Lily were nice together, but I just didn't get the feeling of an intense emotional pull. It seems like they were put back together just to give us a nice ending. Maybe there wasn't enough character development with him? I'm not sure what it was, but I just didn't love their relationship.

I don't have a strong opinion on this, but personally I rather liked the fact that they got together in the end.
If Atlas hadn't reappeared in the book, most of Ryle's fights with Lily wouldn't have occurred in the first place. What that would've meant for Lily and Ryle though, we can't know. The abuse otherwise would have probably started even further into their relationship, making it harder for Lily to get out of it. Atlas's presence kind of provided basis for the abuse stemmed mainly from jealousy and misunderstandings.
A correction: Lily didn't need Atlas to get out of her abusive relationship. Maybe he helped her see reason by not trusting Ryle for quite a while (regardless of whether his feelings were involved), but so did Allysa and her mom at the end.
Also, them getting together occurred during the epilogue, that is almost a year after Emmy's birth. I don't really think it was rushed.
And even after their reunion in Boston, Lily and Atlas didn't act on their feelings towards each other until she was completely out of her relationship with Ryle. When she needed help, he was there for her and didn't do anything else, and I think that's pretty admirable. That kind of helped me figure out that they'd probably get together in the near future.

this is kinda not related but this book is way to romanticised to a gross point i think people kinda miss the message idk
I might be the only one who loved that they were able to get together in the end. They had a lot of history, and he always meant something to her.
I think his reappearance was needed as he was the catalyst to Ryle's breakdowns. (Plus if im reading tons of journals about this guy, he better make an appearance)
Also, I didn't see their reunion as Lily needing another relationship after leaving the abusive one, because she wasn't actively looking for him as a rebound or someone to lean on, it was just fate i guess.

I felt this too! It was odd that she can trust someone that easily (even if they're childhood lovers/friends) after an abusive relationship. Their reunion felt like kind of bland, too? It didn't feel as comfortable as I was expecting it to be.

I thought that Atlas and Lilly reuniting made sense as they are childhood best friends/lovers and they are destined for each other. Atlas would take good care of Lilly and never make her doubt her choice of coming to her. It shows that Lilly is strong and a survivor and she was able to move on with life after certain incidents and be happy again.
I owe this book everything. It showed me exactly why i loved reading books in the first place and naked truth? I don't think i could ever hate ryle. Ever

I COMPLETLEY AGREE!!
firstly I absolutely loved the book, but atlas and lily together, they just didn't catch my heart like lily and Ryle did I got really frustrated when they got back together and thought it was kind of unnecessary, in saying this I still give the book a 5 stars

This was my first Collen's book. Wow, amazing I would say! I love how Collen brought me to new experience in such a raw yet beautiful.
I love how Atlas not much involved in the main topic, but I love Alan's sincere move and everything don't get me wrong.
Naked truth?
I didn't really into Lily and Atlas' reunion.

It was my first book of Colleen as wel. I thought the same. I was happy to read Atlas was not more involved in the situation between Lily and Ryle even though Atlas claimed he knew what was going on.
