What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

SOLVED: The book series includes a wizard/sorcerer (or the like) who gains entry to a kingdoms council and uses magic to manipulate situations to help a man to become king (by helping him win a sword competition and creating rumours of his bravery in war etc). There is also a warrior who joins the wizzard's quest, and a woman (half human) with yellow (I think) eyes. Another main character is a man who is an interrogator of sorts. This man used to be a famous fighter, but now has few teeth and a limp because he was tortured in the past.

This sounds like a the First Law series of Joe Abercrombie. The first book is The Blade Itself.
