Kylie H | 1498 comments Finished this one today and I really enjoyed it ☺ thank you for putting it on my radar.

Andrea | 2164 comments I agree Kylie, I finished a couple of days ago but haven’t reviewed yet. It was lovely and I wish I’d read it sooner to be honest.

Kylie H | 1498 comments I have been looking for my knitted tea cosy, as I found this a particularly endearing part of the story. I have been craving tea from a teapot like my Nanna used to make.

I know what you mean! I’ve been thinking about making one. I used to collect teapots and still have a small collection, but I’ve never owned a tea cosy.

Thomas Greenbank (20940426thomas_greenbank) | 58 comments I'm in the middle of "Threads" at the moment. After a shaky start, where I had trouble knowing who was who for a while (both introductory characters went by two alternate names) I'm really engrossed. This will probably get a four-star from me.

I hadn’t thought about that, but you’re right. And actually I count 3 out of the 4 main characters!

Moss/Miranda
Finn/Michael
Sandy/George

Thomas Greenbank (20940426thomas_greenbank) | 58 comments Hi, Andrea.
Yes, it's a trap us authors fall into occasionally, I guess. I like to give my main characters a nickname or shortened version of their name (Mal, for Malcolm, etc) so I can vary my dialogue tags. I never introduce these alternatives until I'm well into the story, though.
At least, in this case, it obviously didn't detract from our enjoyment of the story.

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments I read this book a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I agree with others' comments that Tess Evans has a talent for creating interesting characters and writing about them in a thoughtful way. I'm pleased to see that most of you who have taken on this title for the monthly group read have liked it.

Janelle | 636 comments I really enjoyed this one too. Such a mixture of characters! Loved Mrs Pargetter and her knitted tea cosies!

Thomas Greenbank (20940426thomas_greenbank) | 58 comments I've just finished Book of Lost Threads. Here are my thoughts:
I can certainly see why so many have said they enjoyed it so much.
As I mentioned above, I did have trouble at first keeping track of the story as she introduced her two main characters by referring to them by different names without immediate explanation. It did all come together after a page or two, of course.
Tess Evans certainly is a talented writer. I hadn't heard of her before.
I really like stories that interweave lots of different characters and "Threads" certainly fills the bill on that.
I think she was let down by the editing team, however, as the book does have a few instances of "head-hopping" that should have been weeded out, (Authors will know what I mean here. If not, you can google it) and also several typos and grammar oopsies. My copy was an ebook from the library and was full of formatting errors but I'll assume they came from the transfer between formats. Such things as wordsthatranonwithoutspaces and so on were common.
I freely admit I'm pedantic about these things, so don't take this as serious criticism of the book's value.
All in all, I really enjoyed Book of Lost Threads (great title, by the way, as becomes pertinent in the end) and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves a good read about interpersonal relations. There's even a nice tear-jerker of an ending (he says, embarrassedly) Four Stars from me.

Sounds like it's definitely worth a read from all the comments :)

Based on other books you've enjoyed, I'd say Yes.

Thanks Thomas :)

Andrea | 2164 comments I’ve just discovered that there is already a Big Galah, but it’s in South Australia! Probably a good thing Sandy didn’t proceed.
