When You’re Not Reading a Cozy

My 4.05 rounded to 4 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This was a fun, engaging, and action-filled urban fantasy novel.

This was my introduction to manga. Thanks to my Goodreads friends in the Vampires, Weres, and Fae! discussion group for the great recommendation.

Overall, this heart-wrenching paranormal romantic suspense novel has great characterization, several sizzling scenes, and plenty of action.

I recommend this novel if you enjoy hard science fiction techno-thrillers.

#38 in this police procedural / mystery / crime thriller
Finished my reread of Breakfast at Tiffany's: A Short Novel and Three Stories for the Classics group. Still a four-star book for me.
And now I’m wanting to watch the movie again.

Read Bill Bryson's African Diary by Bill Bryson, a Little Free Library find a few months ago. Only about 50 pages, it chronicles his week-long visit to Kenya on behalf of CARE International, where he visited refugee camps and learned about other CARE programs. The book was a fundraiser, with all profits and royalties going to CARE.

My 4.20 rounded to 4 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This is a fun and enjoyable paranormal romance with some suspense and surprises along the way.

Listened to a children's classic, Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater, via free audioreading found on YouTube. As fun as I remembered!

This is a thought-provoking near-future Britain dystopian murder mystery.
I found a free PDF online as well as an audiobook on YouTube for another of this month’s Classic group reads, Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose. I have seen the 1957 film starring Henry Fonda and Jack Klugman many times, but had never read the original play before. It’s short enough (only 1-1/2 hours) that I read and listened to it last night. Now I’m wanting to see the movie again!

My 4.72 rounded to 5 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This dystopian novel included a fantastic protagonist, exciting scenes, and a shocking story kept me captivated from beginning to end. It's the third book in the series and they should be read in order.
Finished The Haunted Hotel by Wilkie Collins, a classic group read for this month. The last few chapters especially kept me riveted.

Really? Gosh, I hope you enjoy his stories Heather. He's one of my go to "guilty pleasure" authors :)

Love this book! I may have to search for this audio. Sometimes kids' books are the best!

The Knight Brothers (a Knight/Dare coupling)

Sexy (a Dare brother moves to NY; the main books have alternate titles)

Dare Nation (Dare cousins via sperm donations)

The Kingston Family (a secondary Dare Nation character is a half-sister to the Kingstons)

Dirty Dares (Dare cousins; a Dare/Kingston coupling)

Billionaire Bad Boys (Dare friends/business associates)

I know, where have I been, right? I borrowed it from my sister ages ago and never got around to it. Only about a quarter into it so far, but it does read fairly fast. I have today and tomorrow off, so we’ll see how much of it I can get through.

Try YouTube, that’s where I listened to it. You can find a LOT of kids books there. 🤓
