Alice | 3837 comments I finished my book When the Devil Drivesby Caro Peacok 3.5 starts out of 5.  book 4 in the series. Loved the historical background of a young single Queen Victoria being course by prince Albert and Prince Ernst. Writing style is very good. The mystery got a big bogged down in middle of book.  I liked all the dicuss of hourses and riding. There has not been a new book in the series since 2018. I hope she writes more.

Cindy (cindypp) | 168 comments Began reading The Triumphant The Triumphant (The Valiant, #3) by Lesley Livingston , the third in a YA series about gladiatrices. I enjoyed the first two books and decided now would be a good time to finish the series. I don't know what has taken me so long.

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm enoying The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles which is so different than his A Gentleman in Moscow (loved this 5 star read). It actually feels like it's written by a different author (not an accusation) because the storyline is so completely different.

Anyone else read both and do you feel the same?

message 428: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 2322 comments Karen M, thanks for the insight into The Lincoln Highway. I have it on the tbr this month and had wondered if it would be somewhat similar in tone to A Gentleman in Moscow (which I also loved). I'm hoping that it will be a comfortable, upbeat story; I'm not into downers.😊

I wouldn't call it upbeat. Very character driven and it's hard to explain but I enjoyed it but definitely not upbeat.

Meg (makeli2) | 2322 comments Ok, I'll give it a shot, as long as there isn't horrific hardship.

I read it a six or seven years ago on someone's recommendation and I agree, if you love vampire stories you must read Carmilla.
