Brad wrote: "So does every member do all the challenge if that character or is it once someone on the team completes that category do you skip it?"

Hey Brad, so as a team you are trying to complete 4 tasks per character for the first round of getting them. Once you have gone through them all once, you will get them again in a different order, chosen by random.org, and you will then work together to complete the remaining 4 tasks.

So if you wanted to read a certain task for a character that your team got, no one else can post for that task until you fully complete the character and you get them again. As a team, you can all move around tasks as well.

For example. you read a book Set in England for Clayton but your book can fit a lot of other tasks for other characters. You just so happen to get Queen Grimhilde and your book features a possessive character as well.

You, or someone else on your team, could move your book from Set in England to Features a possessive character and then post their book for Set in England.

Does that help?

In this example, if you read for MC is royalty then you would post a book for that (if it fits). If it doesn't fit, then it would need to fit any other task for the 3 characters your team currently as. If it doesn't, there will be a banked tab on each team's spreadsheet and you can add it there until it fits for a character.

Rebel Reads | 206 comments Couple of questions. Like Emma, this is my first time.
Do we read and review like normal or do we review in a specific place?
How do we choose which books to read? Do we just tell you which one we are reading and we all as a group figure which category to put it? Should we read BOTM first?
How do we know which characters we should be reading for? Do we just start with Queen Grimhilde?

There is no team captain for this challenge but I, and the other MODS, can definitely help answer your questions and help along the way too. So if you have a ton of questions - let me know!

Hello!

Q1: Do we read and review like normal or do we review in a specific place?
Okay, so you read and review your books but then you will post a completion post on your teams review thread (which will be made and posted tomorrow).

Here is an example,
If your team was assigned Mor'du. You would have the following tasks,
Mor'du: (0/4 completed)
- Features a mute character
- Black cover (75%)
- 'Brother' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Letters W,I,S,P,S in title (in any order)
- Features ghosts
- MPG Retelling
- 'Arrow' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Author initials in MOR’DU

..and you read the following book - Red Wolf by Rachel Vincent, you would post like this on the team review thread:

Red Wolf by Rachel Vincent
Review: add link here
Buddy: add link here
Pages: 368
Mor'du: MPG Retelling

Then I would update scores like,

______Name__|___Books__|___Buddy___|___Pages___|___Total___
____________|___Read___|___Reads___|___Read____|__Points___

Rebel_______|_____1____|__________|_____4____|_____4____

Total_______|_____1____|__________|_____4____|_____4____

Villain Characters:
Mor'du: (1/4 completed)
- Features a mute character
- Black cover (75%)
- 'Brother' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Letters W,I,S,P,S in title (in any order)
- Features ghosts
- MPG Retelling Red Wolf
- 'Arrow' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Author initials in MOR’DU

You would also be adding the book information to your team's spreadsheet so that everyone on your team is aware that you posted for a certain task and it's no longer open. You can always move books around as well - just let me know what's being moved on the teams review thread.

I will also keep what tasks you have open or closed on the team's review thread as well. So if things don't match up - please let me know.

Q2: How do we choose which books to read?
So you choose your own books. Sometimes they end up working for a task and sometimes they don't. It's up to you on what you want to read. The only ones where they have to be specific books would be the tasks that contain a book list.

Q3: Do we just tell you which one we are reading and we all as a group figure which category to put it?
Communication is a huge thing for team challenges. So if you want to start reading a book that fits for a specific task - tell your teammates. If you need help trying to get your book to fit a task, you can ask a teammate or a MOD.

Q4: Should we read BOTM first?
BOTM is up to you. If it's a book that you want to read - go for it. It will give you more points for your team as well. Just like a buddy read.

Q5: How do we know which characters we should be reading for? Do we just start with Queen Grimhilde?
Tomorrow each team will get their first 3 characters to read for once September starts. Each character has 8 tasks but you only need to read for 4 of them in order to complete a character. After completing the first 4 tasks for a character, you will get assigned a new character.

Once you read 4 tasks for all the characters, you will then have to go back and read the remaining 4 tasks for the characters you are assigned.

You can tell your team that a book fits a certain task/character but you can't post for it until the challenge starts.

Yes, if it's September 1st where you are - the challenge has already started. Happy reading!

Sure, it would just go towards page points only if it equals less than 100 pages after taking .25 out of the page count. If it equals more than 100, you can count it towards a character/task.

Yes, you can use any book read in September once it fits for a category/character your team receives. Also on the last day of the challenge, September 30th, I will allow any book to be posted for any character/task whether your team has them or not.

For Ratcliffe - Set in Virginia, would you accept a book that is mostly set in post apocalyptic Virginia?

Specifically talking about Day 21. 3 out of the 4 POV's are on the ground in what used to be Virginia.

Alaina (ameserole) | 81946 comments Mod
Emma wrote: "What does MPG fairytale mean?"

It means the book must have fairy tale has a main page genre. So for example.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer has the following MPG's
Young Adult
Fantasy
Science Fiction
Romance
Science Fiction -> Dystopia
Retellings
Fiction
Fantasy -> Fairy Tales
Audiobook
Young Adult -> Young Adult Fantasy

So this book would work for the task MPG Fairy Tales
