These zombies turn back into normal(ish) people after a couple of days as the brain eating variety, just, they are still dead. Their bodies can sustain damage and they can't heal but they don't decay and keep on trucking. A bad case of immortality. The problem is, their bite will still kill you and turn you.
It's more than just a zombie book. John "Stony" Mayhall. He was found on the side of the road with his dead mother. Wanda Mayhall took him home to raise as her own. The thing is.....he's dead. He doesn't eat, doesn't sleep, doesn't grow. Until one day he does, then he grows some more, and some more. How??? Who knows. Stony was born dead and that seems to make him an anomaly in the zombie world.
The story takes place over a span of 40ish years. That made it hard for me to keep interested. The beginning was great but then the timeline jumps forward fast.

I'm sorry and I hope that helps :)

And sorry I missed your book, Sunshine! But great job on finishing.

What to say about this book...I really wanted to give it at least 4 stars. But the book started so slow for me. There at least 4 different plots happening in this book and I didn't know which way was up at times. We have the werewolf plot (again), Evangeline the witch plot, the vampire parlay plot, and Ricky Bo plot. That's not even including some subplots! Once this one picked around the half way point, it went really quick. But Faith Hunter is such a dense writer, some descriptions (like every time Jane shifted to Beast) I didn't need every single time.
This series also piques my interest because I'm really interested the world that is built but the day to day actions of Jane and crew do not give me energy. They actually drain me because Jane and her personal guilt and the guilt others place on her... it's like borderline beating her up and her playing victim. And for her to be a badass, it's starting to piss me off because I guess I'm comparing how Kate Daniel's handles her guilt without being dumb about it. Like Jane blames herself for EVERYTHING! I mean literally things that she has absolutely no control over she takes on her shoulders as her fault. It's kind of annoying and comes off a little whiny like someone who needs a lot of attention. Anyways, I'm going to continue the series but man Jane is started to drive me nuts. I hope something changes in the next book otherwise I might give this one up.

Oh, thank you! I didn't think of that. Normally I use amazon.co.uk and I had forgotten I could use amazon.com.
So, that at least lets me know that the words I want are there. However, let me check - the word earth appears in the sentence "what on earth are you talking about". Would that work? Does it properly refer to the planet do you think?
If so, then I'll get that book finished this evening and post up. It is

This, the first in the Lydia Chin/Bill Smith series, was a good read with a nicely constructed plot. There were some twists and turns and the establishment of the characters was good. I liked Lydia although I felt myself cringing at the domineering and arrogant attitude of her mother and her brother towards her. Both believed she should be the good, meek, quiet little married Chinese woman who kowtows to her elders and brothers. But she had guts, working as a private investigator in Chinatown and partnering with a big white guy who, it seems clear, she is going to develop a romantic interest in at some point. However, I got a little tired of her endless tea drinking - I think the author laboured the point somewhat. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining read but it didn't rock my world.

father: "I think your father would be pleased..." p.98
planet: "what on earth is there to smile about?" p.226
black: "gelled hair, black leather jackets, no socks" p. 90

I'm so sorry, I have been flicking through my paperback trying to find it but I am running out of time!

Review:
To be honest this book was just weird right from the opening line, I totally struggled with the character name Blue Sargent before the story had even begun, should have been a hint. However the synopsis on the book and general plot had me intrigued not to mention the book cover and great reviews.
Being a massive fan of her earlier series 'The Wolves of Mercy Falls' I had high hope for this book but was left disappointed.
Blue comes from a long line of seers, her Mum and Aunt are clairvoyants but the gift seems to have passed Blue. She has grown with the new that she will kill her first love with a kiss. the gift she thinks has passed her comes into play on St until she sees Gansey the mysterious boy. Gansey is a very strange character and it took me along time to get the measure of him, not sure if I actually did. Put his together with the Welsh folklore I just found the book drivel. It took until about 45% before it even started getting remotely interesting and then it was still meh....
A few feet away from the candle (Loc 256)

Review:Loved loved loved Claire and Andreas story. They have a complicated history but how it resolves seems reasonable. Also, the action moved quickly, and the other characters were fully developed. I love where the story is going, even though I've read it before.
Candle: "flicker of a single pillar candle" p. 173
Piano: "how to play the piano" p. 144
Planet (pronoun): "the vampire race on Earth" p. 65

Black: "clipped to his black bulletproof vest" p. 14

And yes, I think that's what we have left. I will start looking!
Great job everyone!!

Another solid entry into this series, though it felt at times like it was lacking a little something. In this one we are introduced to Lucy Sharp's niece and get a peek into Lucy's life. Sage is estranged from Lucy but comes to her for help with a story she is researching. Lucy becomes worried about her and sends one of her Bulletcatchers to watch over her secretly. Of course, things become romantic between them pretty quickly and it is a surprisingly sweet romance. Johnny is indebted to Lucy and takes on the case without questions. The story bogs down in the middle as it becomes slightly muddled and there isn't a lot of tension to the story. But still, the writing kept me engaged and I liked the characters, so I was rooting for them.

Review:
I'm already a casual fan of Alexandra Ivy's first series so I was happy to see another series pop up from her. I really liked the cover and the blurb is what really got me to read the book.
So going in, I had high hopes. Not all of those hopes were met because the hero came off as such an overbearing , trigger happy cop that pulled his gun at the slightest sound. He was overly aggressive and treated the heroine as if she were a delicate flower to the point that she couldn't do anything for herself and he annoyed the crap out of me.
Other than that, I enjoyed the story and the world that is set up in this story. I think I'll read more but no time soon.
Jacket: "Her tailored jacket and matching skirt were equally rigid..." p.163
Garage: "Instead she was in the attached garage..." p.13
State: "Even now they were on the tail of a murderous high-blood who was creating chaos through Texas" p.110
White: "He continued to size up the bold black and white furnishings..." p.4
Brother: "I had two older brothers..." p.82

How is everyone doing this week?

I did really enjoy this book, which was a blend of magical-realism, allegory and literature. From the first moment when we meet Ava, born with a pair of wings, we believe in her. At no point did I feel my credulity was stretched. I really enjoyed how the strangest things were written into the story as if they were completely natural. The futility of love is probably the main theme, although I did want to shake a couple of the characters for their determination to put their lives on hold because of lost loves. But it all comes good in the end which made for a really lovely book.
Jacket: "...had to stuff her poor sister-bird into the pocket of her jacket" p.20
Garage: "and in the attached garage was parked a brand new Cadillac" p.134
State: "...and instead moved to Louisiana." p.14

Book 2 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Such a great series. Rhage and Mary are so good together. She tames his inner beast. Literally. Mary is 100% human and it's so against the rules for a member of the Brotherhood to Bond with one, but Rhage does anyway. They both have their rough moments and push each other away, only to run after them and profess their love/need. I love how you have the main story of Rhage and Mary, but the other brothers are still a part of that story. We meet Bella who has an instant attraction to Zsadist. Can't wait for that story! Also we meet John (soon to be Tehrror) and don't forget good old Butch! He is such a better character in this book. I'm rooting for you , buddy!!

Jade, I'll send a prayer up for you and your family. I know this can be a really hard time. I lost my dad 5 years ago and sometimes it feels like yesterday. Praying for ya'll's healing!
