Amanda Dawn | 1679 comments My September reading has gone well, so I'm hoping the same for October. Intent is to read:

-Tipping the Velvet for tbr
-A public burning for botm
-Operation Shylock for randomiser (and hopefully a couple more once mine is updated)
- Finish dream of red mansions for my previous annual catch up
- and a few smaller books/audios I have available (Inferno, Master of Petersburg, The Country Girls, Henderson the Rain King)

Valerie Brown | 885 comments I plan on reading:
The Woman in White (4th Q)
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay (tbr)
Ignorance
plus, of course, other non-1001 books and maybe another 1001 if I can work it in

MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) BOTM for October as per usual, I don't have either}
1. Popular Vote: The Riddle of the Sands & In the Ranks of the C.I.V
2. Randomizer: The Public Burning

TBR: # 23 The Devil and Miss Prym... not sure, the subject is out of my comfort zone, we will see

4th Quarterly Read. October, November, December
The Woman in White I have this one, maybe ... I didn't like the last one of his that I read

Annual Read: The Man Without Qualities I have this one too, haven't even started it
***************

What I may read:
I am wanting to try out some of the classics that I own.
I have a bunch on audible and even more on Kindle.
I also have a LOT in real book form. Possibly Jane Austin
Possibly a Holocaust memoir

What I am mostly going to do is go thru my shed of books and
plan out my lists of books for next year so I will be ready. I have hopes of actually getting some read.

Anyone have some ideas on interesting books on the list not based on sex, fantasy, sci-fi, curse words? Also, how do you plan out your lists ?

Valerie I hope you like Kavalier and Clay. I still have a few pages to go but I have liked the book. Happy reading .

My reading of late has been abysmal. It has taken me 2 months to read Kavalier and Clay but it is over 600 pages. I want to read Alias Grace so I think I might make that my October read. I read Woman in White before and did enjoy that so I will read the discussion thread. Happy reading.

Pip | 1822 comments I plan to read both BOTM and start listening to The Woman in White, which I think I have read before but have no record of having done so. I also have a TV version saved so will watch that as well. Every month I plan to read more of A Man Without Qualities when I finish the BOTM and the TBR and each month I run out of time. I have Steppenwolfe as my TBR, so October may be no different. I didn’t finish the Dickens last year, either, and that has been on my reading list all year, too. But with no travel allowed, I may realise my plans after all!

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 555 comments I read The Woman in White already and don't have either BOTM available. I'll be reading my TBR pick (A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and finishing off Doctorow(Billy Bathgate) and Waugh(A Handful of Dust). I may also have timeto get more ILL books in October, so I am deciding now what to order next. I might try to get the BOTMs anyway, but they might not arrive in time to finish them in October if I order them now.

Sometime usually towards November I start working on our plans for 2022. We've been in the alpha A through K, no next year we will be in K through Z. I will be randomizing the authors for the months and I will post that list for people to help with planning.

The quarterly reads we vote on.
The yearly read is by descending order of page count though that hasn't been exactly true. But I will post that soon. I need to organize my page counts. Been working on them through the year and so maybe it will get more refined.
