Matt Bodien (mbodien) Somewhat philosophical question for everyone: does reading 'build' your perspective? Why or why not?

Ariel (lamot_amant) | 728 comments I'd say absolutely. In the way that all experiences build and, quite potentially, change your perspective. Most people have a pretty narrow view until an experience takes them outside the norm and makes them think of something new, often in a completely new light. Readers get to experience a wealth of things that we might not normally think of or do. So our perspective on the world and on ourselves is changed, strengthened, and built on those just like it would be during and after a "real life" experience.
