This happened to my ppb copy of Pride and Prejudice, too! Such a delightful story

So many books, so little time! Hope you enjoy your re-reading, Lena

Yes, I love rereading my favorites, too. Any particular books you recommend for rereading?
I only reread a few books, and those I usually reread a lot. I have 2 Chronicles of Narnia books in my TBR this readathon that I've reread over 20 times. Mostly though when I finish books I hand them off to my brother or sister or leave them on a community free shelf, and rarely revisit them.

Exception: A Christmas Carol which I reread every December :D

I love that sense of getting deeper into the world of a book, too. And noticing new things. Of course, there have been times when the new me was disappointed by the old book, but that doesn’t happen too often

Kindred spirits! That is such a good book, and I do read it a little differently when I was a little girl than I do now. Still love it, but have a little more perspective.
Rereading a series when a new book comes out! I don’t usually either

A reread of a favorite book or series is a great way to get out of a reading slump.
I'm currently rereading the Murderbot Dairies and they are even more fun for me the second time.

Sometimes, I do too. This past year, I’ve done a lot of rereading. What kinds of books do you like to reread, Pachy?

Definitely a perk of having a bad memory ;). I never reread for readathons either. Not sure why exactly

I am currently re-reading Harry Potter as I read them all as they came out but wanted to go through the entire series again once I knew what would happen and how it all fit together. I'm currently re-reading Deathly Hallows.

Series can be a challenge, can’t they? So often the new books build on the previous books, and it’s hard to remember all the details.

Right!! Our TBR's are never ending so it used to prohibit me from re-reading.. :-) Happy reading to you Susan!! :-)

I don’t know why I’ve never thought of doing a reread for a Readathon, but will have to remember next time. I love the Narnia series, too, but I think you might have a record for rereading there

A Christmas Carol tradition! I have a wonderful audiobook version read by **Tim Curry** and love to listen to it each year.

Agree with Daisy. As I change, my reading practice changes.
I reread for one reasons most of all:
I belong to two groups year-in/year-out. One is a classics group. So sometimes for purposes of group participation, I find myself rereading books. Often I find that when I last read a particular book that I had not yet had the experience/maturity to understand this book in this way too -or- to understand in a completely new way.

What an interesting challenge! I’m certainly getting some great ideas from this thread

One of the joys of having your own library of favorites is revisiting whenever you want. I sometimes just reread a passage or chapter , too, although it has a way of leading to more… ;)

I like rereading all those, Sarah. With Agatha Christie, if I wait long enough, I forget whodunnit and it’s like a new book

Love Murderbot! I hope she writes some more for us to enjoy

Love how you put this “some are too good to not reread”. And if you’ve read all the books by a favorite author, it’s the only way left to experience their writing

I was afraid this discussion would be dangerous to my TBR. Lol. The Animals of Farthing Woods looks lovely and I’m going to see if my library has it.

Sometimes a book you revisit as an adult is like a wholly different book! When I read David Copperfield as a kid, I thought it was written by another kid and was a true story ;)

I’m in a classics group, too, Cynda, and really enjoy it. The group is just getting ready to read Dracula, but I read it with another group last year, and it just seems too soon to reread it. I’ll probably read the discussions to see what folks think, though.

I try to get it out of the house if I don't think I'll read it again, otherwise in a couple of years time I may find myself reading it again😹

Yes, The Host is one of my faves ever! Read it 2 times and I plan on doing it for the third.
