Let’s talk about distractions and focus!

24 hours might seem like a long time to some and not long enough to others.

For those that find themselves distracted or find it difficult to focus, how do you get yourself back on track?

Put your tips down below and/or save this post to come back to when you’re finding it hard to focus!

For me…I get on the floor and move around. I’m actually writing this from my yoga mat! If I do some light stretching or just get off the bed/couch for a few minutes, I’m much more able to focus again!

Oh and put my phone down! I use hour glass timers when I’m feeling really distracted and need to be phoneless!

I take naps. I napped for a tiny bit earlier. I will set alarm for 30 minutes. I have hour 14, so just a power nap.

When I wake up, I wilk switch not nonfiction.

Later I will switch to audio.

Just keeping the changes coming.

And not overeating or over tea drinking.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1436 comments I made the mistake of eating too heavy and I crashed into a nap when physical reading earlier, so going to remember to go lighter. I took a 2 hour nap and now it's evening. Too dark for me to go to Starbucks now unfortunately for my planned trip, but there's always tomorrow for that. May do a walk later as originally planned and something I like to do in the evenings with audio. Right now I am still on audio with video games (Clue on Steam), that can help clear the brain but have to be careful it doesn't suck up too much time either

I like the switch-ups too! I also watched a little bit of one of my fave movies (Nightmare Before Christmas) to mix it up!

I made that mistake the last readathon...I started to play Portal to stay awake and ended up playing the entire game and NOT reading lol. Not this time!

Yep we learn from things that don't work out and adjust for future readathons!!

Sarah (morr_books) | 116 comments I think switching things up every so often and moving around a bit helps me make a lot of progress during the readathon.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1436 comments I just got back from my evening walk, which was very pleasant, and did some dishes in the kitchen while continuing to listen to audio. It was nice moving around and feeling like I was getting stuff done with the audio for a change. I meant to do a lot today like that but was mainly lazy, so moving around felt good.

Susan | 678 comments Like others, I change up books I’m reading often by reading shorter books. Brain.fm is an app I use to focus when I work. It has a function for “reading & studying” that I use when I’m not focusing well on reading.

Mini breaks help to take the drudgery of of extended reading . This works for me too . Of course , I won't have read as many pages as
as the who don't do this . I will have enjoyed what I've read .
Good point . Thanks !
